A truely sad day for me, Mr. Wizard probably did more for my critical thinking than anybody else. Now Im gonna go jump through a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper!

"...They accept such things on faith alone, without any evidence. So if a fraudulent and cunning person who knows how to take advantage of a situation comes among them, he can make himself rich in a short time." -Lucian critical of early Christians c.166 AD From his book, De Morte Peregrini |

I watched his wonderful show in the early Fifties, when my Dad bought us our first television. Probably as much as anyone else, "Mr. Wizard" gave me an understanding and respect for science and the scientific method. He kept his science lessons simple, and made them fascinating acts of surprise and discovery.
Thanks, Don Herbert.

I want to make a marshmallow grow in a vacuum and crush an aluminum can with steam. That guy was sooooo cool. I still remember so much of his shows. I wonder if they'll ever release them on DVD. |
