Cuneiformist started the last thread by wondering how you came to choose the user name you did: After being a member here for over a year, I've seen some interesting user names. Some are (or rather, seem) easy enough to figure out. Dave W is perhaps a first name and last initial. tkster is likely a first and last initial with a fun -ster ending (remember that SNL skit where Rob Schneider plays the Richmeister? "The tkster, makin' copies..."). Wendy is probably her first name.

Unfortunately, the old thread has been moved to the archives, too late to be revived, but there's no reason why it shouldn't continue.
Here's the original thread.

The reason why I decided to revive this thread is that I wanted to make an update the description on my own name, with a sound snippet from the song I referred to.
My original post.
The sound snippet so you can hear how Mabuse is pronounced. It's a short mp3, about 230KB.

Tom Wallace was my best friend growing up. 10-13-56 was his birthday. He died in a car accident. When I was thinking up an anonymous handle for the internet over a decade ago, I chose his initials and birthday because I could remember the handle, and rememeber him at the same time.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell |

LOL
There was an article I read long, long ago. Seems someone stole Mrs. Soandso's "Grumpy" garden statue.
Some time later, it was returned with a bunch of pictures of Grumpy..... The culprits had taken him on vacation........

| Yeah. Dad was quite a full-fledged brave. (The other half of me is French so that replaces some of the tomahawk with cafe life, wine and cheese.) . |

Well, mine is a character of my creation's name. She was largely (but not quite) based on myself, so. And yes, her name was indeed Siberia. She has several incarnations in several roleplaying games, from werewolves to horses to were(snow)leopards, to otters. Yes, otters. And she once was a sea serpent, too... but her favorite incarnation is either horse, human or werewolf. |
