| A new squid has been caught near Hawaii — much is being made of the fact that it has eight arms instead of ten, but that doesn't seem like such a big deal to me, since we have the example of Taningia danae with a similar arrangement. It's more interesting that there is a preliminary assignment to the genus Mastigoteuthis, a curious and poorly understood group of cephalopods. |

Just read about that! How very interesting!
It goes to demonstrate how very little we know about bathypelagic species in general and cephalopods in particular.
To post a pictuure:
in the toolbar, the second space to the left of the quotation marks, there is an icon. When you put click on it, you will get in your text [img[[/img[ (the last brackets are reversed so it won't work here).
Put those in your post and paste the address of the image between them, And there you have it.
Thanks for the heads-up! I am always interested in that sort of thing.

But really I want a picture of the squidog that I heard Kirk Cameron talking about. |

Actually, yeah, we can have trouble now that you've learned to post pictures. As I learned the hard way (though I continue to make errors), there are two problems. One problem is that images over about 600 or 640 pixels wide will screw up people's page formatting, just as will a too-long link. (You may want to replace your first image, as it's 1106 pixels wide, and is doing just that.)
Another is that if you post an image in the OP of a thread, it will pop up on SFN's Home Page, unless it's a few lines down. The Admins don't like this, and I don't blame 'em. Usually a paragraph or so above the image is all that's required to avoid this problem.
