McCain's Florida GOP campaign chairman arrested for trying to raise money
"Pro-family" State Representative Bob Allen (GOP), presidential candidate John McCain's Florida campaign chairman, has been arrested. This is a variation on the case of Rudy Giuliani's regional campaign chairman and whore consumer, US Senator David Vitter (GOP) of Louisiana. In this new case, Allen's the one who is alleged to have tried to turn a trick, from the supply side of the market.
On a day when McCain's campaign is down to its last $250K in cash, maybe $20 more would really help right now.
"This is disgusting" said Bob Allen (GOP)
As Florida Today tells it: | According to police, the park was under surveillance today by a detail of undercover Titusville police officers. Officers noticed Allen acting suspicious as he went in and out of the men's restroom three times. Minutes later, he solicited an undercover male officer inside the restroom, offering to perform oral sex for $20. |

BTW, notice the cameraman in the background of the top photo. He looks like he's trying real hard not to bust out in laughter.

Not really, or at least not based upon Allen. I think they'll judge McCain on his own merits, or lack thereof. Gay activists generally like to expose hypocritical gays who masquerade as "pro-family" (ie, anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-feminist) crusaders. Some of the most strongly negative reaction to Allen on his arrest comes from gay bloggers. (Of course, they're upset they didn't get to "out" him!)

This is from Florida's Rainbow (gay) Democratic Club's Web site:First elected in 2000, Allen is the chairman of the House Committee on Energy. He received the Rainbow Democratic Club of Orlando's worst possible rating.
In March, he co-sponsored HB269, the Lewdness and Indecent Exposure Bill, which proposed enhanced penalties for "offenses involving unnatural and lascivious acts or exposure or exhibition of sexual organs committed within specified distance of certain locations." The bill never made it to a vote.
About six years ago, he was one of 21 Florida legislators to sign Gov. Jeb Bush's friend-of-the-court brief supporting the state's ban on gays adopting children, Rainbow Democratic Club secretary Carol Bartsch told Gay.com |
That makes it pretty clear that Allen is a certified, capital-H Hypocrite, who has now doomed himself to contempt and obscurity -- not by being gay, but by helping to persecute others who are.
