I think Filthy, our Poker Pit Viper of Biker Bars, might appreciate this guy's psychological technique. It doesn't require a degree in psychology to win the World Series of Poker, but it can't hurt, either: LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AP) -- Jerry Yang, a 39-year-old psychologist who uses his professional training in his card-playing arsenal, won the top prize Wednesday of $8.25 million at the World Series of Poker.
Jerry Yang Yang vaulted quickly from eighth to the chip lead soon after play began Tuesday afternoon.
He knocked out seven of the eight other players at the final table, reminiscent of last year when Jamie Gold ran over his opponents. The main difference, Yang did it from the back of the pack.
"The only way I would win this tournament is to be aggressive from the very beginning and that's exactly what I did," he said. |

And of course, that's what any REAL psychic (if there were such an animal) would do: Use his or her powers in poker, and keep silent about those powers. Or, better yet, in the stock market, and then be able to be open about their powers. Funny how the income of professed psychics instead always depends on finding credulous people.

Yeah, even if your psychic power was only accurate prediction of trends... if it was real (statistically significant) you'd easily become a multi-billionaire trading stocks.

In short, why has Silvia Browne or one of them not ever hit the lotto?
A little psychology is good to know in not just poker, but 'most any endeavor where you are 'across the table' from someone. And after all, what is psychology but cold reading with a sheepskin?
