This article in Time shows studies that conclude the popular videos that are supposed to make a babies into geniuses not only don't work, the videos significantly retard the learning of language skills.

Here's one quote from the article:
Three studies have shown that watching television, even if it includes educational programming such as Sesame Street, delays language development. "Babies require face-to-face interaction to learn," says Dr. Vic Strasburger, professor of pediatrics at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and a spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics.

What, babies who have almost no experience with the physical world and human culture and language require interaction with that real world and real people rather than just visual and auditory info presented on a flat screen? Whoa! No way, man!

I've been hearing stuff about these sort of studies for some time now. Thanks for posting.

Really, and these studies ignore the fact that Einstein himself was raised almost entirely by being left in a crib next to a TV playing Sesame Street.

And you're welcome!

Damn. Does this mean I've got to send my kids to school instead of just getting a bigger TV?

I was going to save a fortune on school fees too.
