Hey all you Skeptics... I'm sort of new here... was directed here by a friend. I thought this documentary might pique your interests. It certainly piqued mine.

Bill Maher often comes across as a pompous ass, but he's a smart cookie and I often find myself agreeing with him.

Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earthbound misfit, I.

You're right. Very interesting.

And you're right about Maher in general, too. Except for his idiocy about "toxins" killing us all. As he would say, "come ON."

And welcome back to the SFN, emsby.

Thanks for the welcome back!

And Bill Maher seems like the kind of guy that doesn't always think before speaking... even though he's usually right on, lack of verbal self-control can be a problem... hence some of his more idiotic comments.

He is a paying member of PETA, he thinks there are deadly toxins in the food we eat, and he thinks there is a pharmaceutical industry conspiracy.

But his politics and religious views are mostly on target.

The thing that makes him different from so many other people who hold some irrational beliefs is that I always get the impression he would be swayed by a solid and logical argument. I've seen him concede points on live television, to people he obviously doesn't like or agree with, if they have a cogent point.

The same can't be said of the right-wing-nuts (coulter, orielly, hannity, et al) who have similiar media positions.

Ignorance is preferable to error; and he is less remote from the truth who believes nothing, than he who believes what is wrong.
