Dave W. .....

Point well taken, but over the years Skeptics like Shermer and Randi and Nickell and many others not writing(or alive)today have sounded off on the psychology of UFO perception. Without professional creds other than Skeptics. Pretty much as you have. And I find their and your and other's here and there, opinions of relevance to what I am attempting to understand.

There certainly is a psychological facet to the elusive jewel of a final answer. But I am convinced there is more needed to explain the longevity of the series of events. They are related in that they are all UAP that has been investigated and remain unexplained. Notwithstanding the Berkleyan argument that all there is, is our perceptions (and the idiotic conclusion that that somehow proves the existence of God in the Quad) I feel there are other faces to be unmasked. I'm trying to do a sort of facial profiling here. And it's difficult to explain unambiguously.

Why does it have "legs"?, is one aspect of the answer. What are they?,has been exhaustively explored, much learned about what they are not, and is another aspect of the explanation.. I feel the Scientific Method has not really been applied to this conundrum, and may offer an answer. Requires interest in the subject, much money, and probably won't happen. At least, in theory, it could happen, as I believe I have demonstrated elsewhere.

Skeptics, at least the real ones, have been deeply involved in the discussion of UAP for over fifty years. They have plenty of useful things to say, in my estimation. That opinion has been strongly reinforced since I been playing my word-games in the Forums. I've received an abundance of useful input, along with a lot of crap.

I'm going to go to the religious community next. I know full well what the bulk of response in going to be. But I expect to be surprised by some of the folks like Christians for Evolution, etc. And not just "God created everything" crap. A few of these guys are really quite rational until you get them in a really tight corner. Most are not blinded by ego or arrogance (the Jerry Falwell syndrome), but really think using different neurological networks than Skeptics do!

Nice to be back for a while! Hope somebody is reading this thread!

Well, I certainly can't speak for the "big guns" of skepticism. Perhaps they've got psychological data that I haven't yet encountered, or maybe they're making generalizations that I wouldn't feel comfortable with (wouldn't be the first time).

Certainly the phenomenon you're interested in requires psychology to understand, because it's a human phenomenon. I mean, so far as I know, there is no widespread movement among gazelles or sparrows to explain the unidentified, scary stuff that they encounter, they just flee from it until the adrenaline dissapates enough for them to continue going about their daily routine (even the buffalo weren't looking for an explanation).
