When, after confirming her co-host's disbelief in evolution, Whoopie Goldberg asks Sherri Shepherd whether the friggin' world is flat, the co-host says she doesn't know, and had "never thought about it."

Whoopie's deist position may be (and in fact, is) weak, yet it's at least a considered position, showing some thought. Shepherd seems to be a full-blown ignoramus, and perhaps mentally deficient.

Never thought about it? How can you never think about it? Bullshit reply...either she thinks the world is flat and is afraid of saying so (coward) or she is indeed an idiot (idiot).

Not everyone has been to sea, I know, but surely Ms. Shepard has traveled by aircraft. Either way, the shape of the earth is obvious, and ad nauseum photographs from orbit confirm it.

Unless, on the one hand, that this featherhead is either too stupid or junked out to believe her eyes. Either way, she should be ashamed to show her face in public, and certainly not on TV.

On the other hand, if this is what the anti-evolution imbecility has to offer for debate, then "bring 'em on!"

But on the gripping hand; nah, too easy.

WAIT! WHAT!

THE WORLD IS NOT FLAT?

Try and explain this one away. The evidence in the photos tells the true story.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell

How is a photo (illustration?) of a waterfall proof of anything?

John's just this guy, you know.

I think the blood is running to your head; being on the "upside down" part of the world.

I agree that Whoopie's position is considered, but I'd call it integrated, not weak (integrated as in integrating trust in science and reason with a poetic, spiritual side in a way which compliment each other rather than slipping into harmful delusion.) I also agree that Shepherd seems to be a full-blown ignoramus. I don't think she is mentally deficient or that she thinks the world is flat. I think she felt backed into a corner and didn't want to appear on the defense so she ended up using an imbecilic explanation.

It's so sad that so many people feel such pride in their ignorance. The worst part is that you can bet your bottom dollar there are thousands of ignorant housewives sitting at home watching this and applauding this woman's stupidity. She feels somehow vindicated and proud that she's too busy worrying about how to "feed her child" that she just can't fit one more piece of information into her tiny little brain. How depressing.

Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earthbound misfit, I.

Good news is she's way to stupid to homeschool her kids.

Aw contrary, my friend. She is just stupid enough to homeschool 'em, thereby getting them qualified for a career either in the church or Burger King. Or, worse yet, as a talk show host.
