Very nice. I had forgot about the anti-evolution messages on Starbucks products. And any reason to criticize Starbucks is welcomed by me (a former but still loyal employee of a local coffee roaster in Columbus, Ohio that was personally threatened by Starbucks reps when they refused to sell, and were then specifically targeted by Starbucks for elimination through aggressive and focused competition - which thankfully failed.) |

I have been a fan of Dr. Azo Mazur for some time. It really is an excellent site.

| I don't doubt the sharp business practices of Starbucks that you mention, Marf. But I don't see anything on that site about Starbucks or any anti-evolution messages from it. In fact, when Googling, I found this image of a Starbucks cup:

Mooner, Starbucks isn't for or against evolution or ID. They had an marketing campaign where they just tried to gain attention by putting quotes from a wide variety of people on their cups, many of which were controversial. http://www.denverpost.com/lifestyle/ci_5902652
I was reminded of two anti-evolution quotes by the reDiscovery Institute's "Hall of Fame" which includes Starbucks: http://www.re-discovery.org/index.html
Starbucks is scum for using out-of-context quotes to stir controversy purely for their own selfish marketing purposes, while simultaneously legitimizing the creationism-evolution debate by including quotes from both "sides" (I put sides in quotations because the debate is in fact highly complicated which is exactly why it is a shitty thing to encourage black and white, simple thinking on the matter as Starbucks promoted with this campaign.)

PZ Myers has a good article on this topic: Starbucks gets cozier with the DI:Starbucks has a disclaimer — "The opinions put forth by contributors to 'The Way I See It' do not necessarily reflect the views of Starbucks" — and they put a wide range of nonsensical quotes in there, but they admit that they invited these contributions from "notable contributors from various fields", so I have to hold them culpable for promoting IDiocy. |

| Now, that's something I understand, and agree with. So Starbucks is just using words for marketing purposes, with no concern at all for their meaning, and no position at all of their own. Thanks for clarifying that.

If you look on the bottom of a cup and on burger wrappings from In –N-Out Burger you will find a references to a bible quotes.
Then there are the little pieces of paper that came with lunch on Alaskan Airlines. It was a prayer. Honestly speaking, I think that reminding people of their mortality while flying may not be the best idea…
On one trip via Alaskan I was happy to have the piece of paper because I couldn't find a place for my gum when the food showed up. Very handy…
