Some of the 419 scumbags are going to the House of Many Slammers, where they don't play nothin' but Blues. Dig it:

Saturday, February 2, 2008; 11:19 AM

Three people have pleaded guilty to charges related to spam e-mail that promised U.S. victims millions of dollars from an estate and a lottery, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

In one scenario, the defendants sent e-mails purporting to be from an individual suffering from terminal throat cancer who needed assistance distributing approximately US$55 million to charity, the DOJ said.

The three defendants, two from Nigeria and one from Senegal, sent spam e-mail to thousands of potential victims, in which they falsely claimed to control millions of dollars located abroad, the DOJ said in a press release. The fraud victims lost $1.2 million by giving the defendants advance fees, the DOJ said.
Now I know that this is no more than a drop from a pretty deep cess pool, and they haven't mentioned the Ivory Coast scum, but it's a start.

To you guys who make a game out of stringing them along (I have too nasty a temper for it; would that it were otherwise), sorry 'bout that. But another'll come along soon enough.

A start indeed. This lets the scammers know that they can be caught and prosecuted. At the very least this will serve as reality reference of sorts. The most unique thing about these convictions is that they were in US courts. Extradition happens…

But several cases have gone to court in Nigeria and other countries with positive results i.e. a conviction.

See Nigeria - 419 Coalition 2007 News on Nigerian Scam / 419 Operations to get a grasp on the size of the problem and what is being done about it in this series of international press releases.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Why not question something for a change?
