I ran into this quite by accident. Mitt Romney's surname is inherited from a lineage of Romnichals, Roma, or Romany Folk (so-called "Gypsies") which settled in England in the 1500's. In fact, his name is simply a variant spelling of Romany.
Bill Clinton, according to Wiki's Romnichal entry, is also descended from Roma.
