If you are a resident of Washington State you may want to read PAZ Myers blog and follow the links in his blog.

This is a bill that looks good on the face, but it opens the door for ID and other woo science.

From the latest Pharyngula comment, it looks like the bill is dead in committee. This thing would have been worse than merely imposing an Intelligent Design "alternative," as it would have in effect done that, plus it would have allowed every kind of woo into every area of academia. Chaos instead of education would have been the (intended) result.

I'm from WA and apart from making online poker a class C felony, our state legislators generally do a good job. The people of WA are far too educated to let BS like that slip through unchallenged. If you think ID took it on the chin in Kansas, it would have been gutted like a trout in WA.

I lived in Aberdeen, WA for several years. The place was largely filled with rural, left-leaning, white blue-collar types. Not exactly your stereotypical yokels.

It's still quite liberal. All the way down to Ilwaco.

Ya, the state is liberal, but there is some tendrils of Christan Fundamentalism trying to get in. Don't forget the Discovery Institute is here.

I missed that, thanks Mooner.
