Oh, be still my fluttering heart....

One of the most usual of the Usual Suspects has, not so much come up with a new one (they aren't all that creative), but put a polish on an oldie but goodie.

Straw mens is as straw mens does.

"The article below has been sent as a letter to the Daily Telegraph, a conservative newspaper in the U.K., following yet another diatribe against creationists.

It is amusing that Professor Steve Jones refers to his latest effort (and I use the word advisedly) in the Telegraph as “View from the lab,” when nothing he has to say owes anything to the sort of real science carried out in laboratories.1 Professor Jones is one of the “high priests” of scientism, who believe that if you make the piece sound clever enough, you can slip nonsense past the ordinary reader.

For example, he accuses creationists of believing that life started by “magic.” And he thinks that his doctor has to believe that he evolved from a fish in order to know how the various organs of the body work. What nonsense! In fact, a belief in evolution has no benefit to a surgeon at all. He is free to believe what he likes, I guess, but the evolutionist belief in vestigial organs has probably damaged a lot of children, over the years, who have unnecessarily had appendices or tonsils removed."

And I suppose that the physicians should have prayed the appendicitis away? These nincompoops don't even know what a 'vestigial' organ is and if their 'Creation Museum' is any example, they're a little light on evolution, history, and, arguably, the Bible as well.

"If research doesn't agree with my interpretatin of Scripture, then that research is flawed."

I could be wrong, but I think that it was Phillip Johnson who came up with that bit of egotistical nonsense, which has become the rallying cry of the 'anti-evolution-regardless-of-how-ludicrous' crowd. Pitiful.

I think these bastards should be required by both law and their own concern for the commonweal to at least pack their dummies with fresh straw. The present stuffing is getting moldy.

Sometimes I get cynical enough to really wish that creationists who deny evolution actually take their stand against Evolution-Based medicine.
By denying themselves state of the art medicine including vaccines, they'll Darwin Award themselves our of Humanity's way and improve the gene-pool in doing so.
