You bloody slackers! Where are all the astronomy topics? Well, I guess it's up to me then.
Here then, is a link to a news article about a martian avalanche! Yep, you heard me.
Material, likely including fine-grained ice and dust and possibly including large blocks, has detached from a towering cliff and cascaded to the gentler slopes below. The occurrence of the avalanches is spectacularly revealed by the accompanying clouds of fine material that continue to settle out of the air. The largest cloud (upper images) traces the path of the debris as it fell down the slope, hit the lower slope, and continues downhill, forming a billowing cloud front. This cloud is about 180 meters (590 feet) across and extends about 190 m (625 ft) from the base of the steep cliff. |

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.
Another example of this guy's lunacy here. |

| Wo0t! So cool! Just enough atmosphere to allow dust clouds. We'd never see this on the Moon. |

| I'll say! About 2/5 of the way down on this image, is a white field of what looks like water-ice or dry-ice dunes, shaped much like sand dunes in earthly deserts. And something's peeking out of many of then, something dark and irregular. Exposed rocks? Trees? Artillery emplacements? Martian jungle-gyms?
