Actor-Lawyer-Nixon speech writer and Intelligent ("it isn't Creationism, dammit!") Design flack Ben Stein today met for a tête à tête with Young Earth Creationist and Creation "Museum" curator, Ken Ham.

The occasion for the meeting was one in a series of special private screenings of Stein's anti-evolution mockumentary, "Expelled."

Expelled's producers are criss-crossing the country to make certain that every knuckledragging, antiscience, Bible-pimping, Creationist preacher in the land get private previews of Expelled, while keeping film critics away from the heavy-handed, lying propaganda piece -- meanwhile maintaining the fiction that the film is only about academic freedom.

Though Stein insists not only that he's a Jew, but that there is no connection at all between the "scientific theory" of Intelligent Design and fundamentalist, theocratic religion. Ben and Ken found an instant, inexplicable David-and-Nathan kind of chemistry between them.

Thanks, Mooner. Now I have to go find a fork so I can pluck out my eyes.

Mooner you left off "science observer and a 21st-century Einsteinian figure".

And more from the choir...
“I urge everyone not to miss Expelled. I found it riveting, eye-opening, even astonishing. Ben Stein does a masterful job of exposing the ruthlessness of evolutionists who will go after anyone who challenges or merely questions Darwinian orthodoxy. I was on the edge of my seat—entertained yet instructed.

“This movie is a must-see. Congratulations to Ben and the producers for the courage to create a much-needed perspective on the erosion of freedoms in America.”

—Ken Ham, president, AiG–U.S.
Ensuring that scientists do science according to the methods of science is an "erosion of freedoms in America"? The lying bastards just want a free pass.

edited to add: Agree with Dave that's a disturbing picture. Ken seems uninterested, like he is just going through the motions. And Ben seems surprised that Ken is not really into it.

Ben looks skeeered...no doubt wondering when his Jewness will be used against him by his new-found friends...
