After spending an entire program talking about the suffering and death in Africa from malaria and AIDS, they ended the show with a rousing "Praise The Lord" type song. I couldn't decide what they were praising the Lord for. The death and suffering? Giving us rich Americans an opportunity to display compassion?
Is it just me, or did anyone else who saw that show find the last song pretty ironic?

I didn't watch it, but it sounds like that was pretty damned sick. Probably, though, some cynical producer or director simply thought that, having gotten the audience warmed up with emotion, it would be appropriate to throw in some wholly irrational hymns.

I suppose we're supposed to praise Him because we are finally coming together to fight the problem, and there is now hope for all those poor Africans, instead of condemning the bastard for creating the problem in the first place. What a bunch of crap. |
