God, I hope to hell that this is somehow being taken out of context or something!

DELONG: Politically, what are the challenges because you're not going to have a lot of sympathetic ears up there.

RUMSFELD: That's what I was just going to say. This President's pretty much a victim of success. We haven't had an attack in five years. The perception of the threat is so low in this society that it's not surprising that the behavior pattern reflects a low threat assessment. The same thing's in Europe, there's a low threat perception. The correction for that, I suppose, is an attack.

I can't believe that this is what the man would actually want; the more I think of this, the more I think this is just taken out of context. Mind you, I've not read through the whole link yet.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Generally, I don't cotton to the use of psychobabble, but this sounds like a Freudian Slip on the part of Crummy. It has been evident for a long time that terrorist attacks are the bread and butter of neocon politics. They obviously long for another attack to fuel the fears the of herd of sheep that are much of the American electorate, I have no doubt that they would certainly assist and abet any such attack if it were possible to do so without being exposed (it isn't), and for one of their leaders and prolific spokesmen (Rumsfeld) to let it slip that this is what they want, is not surprising to me!

Rumsfeld is such a despicable piece of work, he should be carefully taken apart piece by piece and destroyed sequentially, followed by a total incineration of the blueprint of his construction. I deeply, deeply hope there will never be another one of these monsters!

I read that and find it a damned shame that anyone would want to interview this sleezy war criminal.

On the other hand, it makes you think, doesn't it?

Aside from Rumsfeld's statements, Bush has also been continuing his drivel in various speeches, (most recently in Israel today,) implying that if a Democratic administration is elected, they (Obama) will naively appease enemies of America. Bush has further "predicted" that the USA would be attacked as badly as or worse than 9/11 if a Democrat gets elected.

Given Bush's and Rumsfeld's vile track records of deception and lies, all this strongly implies that the NeoCons are in tacit alliance with terrorists. Tacit means more than silent, in other words, they aren't secretly talking to them but instead would do any and everything they could to allow for another attack to occur, likely after a Democrat is elected. Then they, (the NeoCon wing of the Republicans,) could figuratively and literally say: "see, we told you so" and leverage the new public outrage over the attack against all political opposition.

I would be appalled but not surprised if they then demanded the new president resign or face impeachment and demand installing a Republican (McCain?) in office to "protect and defend" us. Nightmare scenario? Paranoid delusion? I hope so. But given their on-going and obvious disregard for the lives of our troops, the lives of our intelligence gatherers, and our ordinary citizens in man made and natural disasters, they would do anything, including treason to stay in power.

At least Keith Olbermann keeps up the good fight these days.
