I haven't seen it in my Parish, but most are catholic in these parts.

I have not heard about it up here in Minnesota. Then again, Louisiana is in the "Bible Belt"...

Case law supports it's repealing. ACLU wins.

"OXFORD, Miss. -- In a closely-watched school prayer case, a federal judge today ruled that a Mississippi public school system had violated the First Amendment rights of a mother whose children had to sit through religious teachings in the classrooms.

U.S. District Court Judge Neal B. Biggers, Jr. ruled that Pontotoc County public schools had violated the separation between church and state by broadcasting devotionals over the intercom system and conducting Bible studies classes for students in grades K through 8."

Cheers.

The violence, rape, murder, and general nastiness in the bible are inappropriate for children under 17.

I was just wondering how this thing was faring in some other states. Law seems untested here. This is an 'elective' high school course to teach 'the Bible as a history book and as a work of literature.' There was a similar course attempted and failed in Florida, according to the article, but this new revamped version seems to be going strong, at least here in La. and in the protestant parishes.
