Lisa mentioned the movie, the Scorpion King, and suggested a new folder for movies of its type. Here it is!
That movie was great if you like well choreographed fight scenes (which I am a big fan of), but the writer had delusions of adequacy.

Well, last weekend I saw one of my favorite bad movies, Tremors. This is an homage to/parady of 1950's horror movies. So if you like 1950's horror movies, you'll probably like this movie. Also this movie is essential watching if you wish to play the "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" game.

I love Tremors! Has anybody seen the sequels? Are they worth the time?

Tremors 2 was very nostalgic when I saw it (several years after the original). It isn't all that bad, but I can't really recommend it.
The third movie? Out of the question.

I don't know what this reveals about my persona, but I am a big fan of the Andrew Dice Clay vehicle, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane. One of those movies that is endlessly quotable.
Generally speaking, the errors in religion are dangerous; those in philosophy only ridiculous.

My husband loves that movie, Tremors. I have more refined tastes. Let's hear it for Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Eddie also wants to see Blade II. What a pity he's leaving the country Wednesday. It'll be on video by the time he gets back, so I should be spared.

"Tremors" is great fun; I don't think it qualifies as an RBM (Really Bad Movie).
"Remo Williams", however, is an RBM, and is also great fun. The star is the same guy who plays Kevin Bacon's friend in "Tremors." Billy Crystal does a bang-up job as the oriental mystic/martial-arts-mentor.

I just got "Fritz the Cat" and its sequel on DVD, and can't stop watching them.
My faves are usually low budget oldies, such as Roger Corman, William Castle, AIP films, etc. As long as it is obvious to the observant viewer that the film can't possilby be taking itself seriously, I'll probably "enjoy" watching it. Details such as visible zippers on monster suits allow one to "get back" at the film and its makers with MST3K type riffing. (And yes, I do own every episode of the now defunct TV series).
What just plain pisses me off are overhyped, overbudgeted bad movies that DO take themselves seriously, e.g, most of what the big studios produce. I wasted 3 hours of my life on Saturday night watching "Armegeddon" on TV. I found it typical of most scifi/suspense films out now: One-dimensional characters, a cliched script, transparent attempts to stir up emotions, gratuitous use of computer-generated special effects, pointless filler material and uneccesary sub-plots, the flagrant misunderstanding of applied science, etc. By the end of the night, I had nearly worn out the elastic on my pajamas from mooning the screen.

I enjoyed Remo Williams as well, but I feel quite certain it was Joel Grey who played the mentor.

The list of movies that are really bad (and I've seen a lot of really bad movies) but I take awful delight in watching.
In no particular order.
Johnny Socko and the Giant Robot
Gamera (Soho films series)
Godzilla (Soho films series)
Wizards (animated tech vs. magic. endlessly quotable)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (yeah, it's an awful movie, but you watch it to holler the lines)
Battlestar Galactica (Ok. so I'm a fan of BAD Sci Fi)
That's all I can think of right now.

Oops. It was Joel Grey. Serves me right for trying to think so early in the day.
"Wizards"! I had forgotten about it, but I would rank it up near the greats of RBM's.
Here's one for you, that I'll be surprised if any have seen: "The Ninth Configuration" with Stacy Keach.

I did like Tremors a lot even it it lacked the certain somthing that would have made it cult. Ford Fairlain had 'Al Bundy' and some good oneliners in it, but was not very memorable.
The Godzilla and Co monster movies were all very good and I try to catch them everytime there is a rerun on TV. (Except the horrible Emmerich version -- that was just plain bad.)
Was 'Mormons in Space' I mean 'Battlestar Galactica' ever released as a Movie I thought there was just the TV-Series and specials cut together from different episodes?
