I hate those Cleo ads sooooo much. What's also funny is the way the ads change. First it was astrology, then tarot cards...who knows what's next?? Cleo's entrail readings?

My husband just got back from a one-year remote tour. He only had access to 3 AFN channels, and hence, no commercials. Miss Cleo popped up the other yesterday while we were watching TV. Ed said (he's so eloquent): "What the **** is this ****? I thought the psychic friends went ****ing under! Who does that ***** think she's fooling? Turn that **** the **** off! ****, all these channels and I still can't find any ****ing golf". I think that sums it up nicely. Lisa

Is the swear word blocker (which should be off) on?
Or did you put those stars in yourself?

I put the stars in myself. Everyone knows what they mean. Using the actual words would have had no added value. I think even with the stars, Ed has summed up our feelings for Miss Cleo. I don't know however, how you feel about golf. Lisa

Great!
I know. I used to think of myself as an intelligent, intellectual, brilliant *Aquarian*; now I am a *Capricorn* and I will have to study it carefully to find out what kind of person I truly am. Oh, how difficult it is to change. Oh dear, oh dear! Then again. What does anything have to do with the instant one is born? I would think that the real point which makes the difference is the instant one is conceived! However, that is more difficult, unless you ask your parents about how and when all of this came about.
That goes to show you about Astrology. Pure ignorance personified!

I used to think I knew better, but, as a mere Capricorn, how can I ever do better?

Just an example of Shadowman on a roll. We both know people who buy into Miss Cleo's crap. They think John Edward in the genuine article. Sylvia Browne is a true seer. It pisses us both off, but he's a bit more emotional than I am. I try to rationalize what can possibly be missing in these people's lives to draw them to the mystic and fantastical. He just thinks they're nuts. Lisa

Lisa - Got a big kick out of your description of your just-returned hubby channel surfing for golf and having to dodge the psychic fiends. Kind of reminds me of my dear spouse when he watched "Armageddon".
Speaking of stupidity and astrology, check out what I just posted over on the BABB. I stumbled across two incredibly lame astrology sites searching for information about the eclipse this Thursday (also below).

Rubysue, Just saw your posts on BA a couple of minutes ago. Didn't get a chance to go to the links, got caught up in the current flame war. (NO I didn't post to it. You couldn't get me involved in that crap for any amount of money. Bozola seems to be doing just fine) I still haven't decided if ComputerOrg/Gauss is a nut, really is also Patch, or just a borderline troll. In any case, it's getting pretty vicious over there right now. Lisa

I haven't been so pissed for a long time.
Do you know why those two IDIOTS started all this crap?
Because they thought "LOL" and "ROFLMAO" were flames! This whole farking time they thought that. Clueless pointy headed goifs.
When I flame someone, I use napalm, not cutesy little acronyms.

That whole thread seemed pretty tense when I read through it - the three-headed troll can really poke you in the eye with a sharp stick when provoked (or not). I've been avoiding a lot of interaction with them/it because I'm never sure where they're going next.
Bozola - I think it's time for a nice single malt from Islay or the Mid-Highlands, neat, with a spring water chaser. Ahhhh.... No more patch/computer.org/gauss to contend with.

Just be glad that Mr. No Pickles and No Onions wasn't hanging around today. Guess the Pipehead was busy experiencing his daily mental brown-outs. When he's around it's like adding a gallon of water to the can of soup. Homo Sapieisn't.

I prefer to have no doubt as to what was being said.
Whereas with the stars there could be some instances when it could be either shit or fuck or whatever other swear word you can think of.
It can be funny what people will believe, interesting how the gravity of the hospital has 500 times more effect on a newborn then any planet in the solar system.

I understand that the gravitational attraction of the attending physician also outdoes any gravitational attraction of the planets.
Incidentally, I know where my parents were when I was conceived and also the name of the book my mother had been reading. I have tried to find a copy of it to understand her ardor at that particular moment. I was a *love child* in the sense that I was unplanned, unlike my two brothers. I have no idea concerning the hospital where I was delivered. I guess I have the important facts, in any event.

Nobody ever lost money writing trashy books. Actually, it could not have been that trashy, knowing my mother's tastes in literature. Literary trash, naturally...

Gravity? Astrology doesn't work because of gravity. No one had even heard of gravity when astrology was discovered.
Astrology works because the sky is made of crystal and is about three miles above the surface of the Earth. Set into this crystal dome are memorials, if you will, to great people and marvelous creatures. To give messages to their followers the gods, Venus, Mars et al would move from monument to monument. By their interaction with the other gods and where they stood in the heavens could tell you how they stood on issues. It only makes sense. The politics of Olympus.
Take, for instance the Sun, the Persian god Ahura Mazda, say he was in the shrine (house) of the god Ea (Pan in Greece). You can tell which is the shrine of Ea. It's Capricorn the composite creature that Ea became when he and Hermes saved the life of Marduk (Zeus, Elohim) during the war with the Titans. This is the sign of initiation of Ea (in the Hellenistic period called Oannes. Or in Latin Johannes, or English John) called baptism. Now if, say late in December, Ahura Mazda moved from the shrine of Ea into that of Aquarius the Baptizer that shows that it is the time of birth. The anniversary of the birth of the world. If you were a Zoroastrian priest/ astrologer, what was called a Magi, you would be very interested in this as it also signified time of the birth Mazda's only begotten son Mithra. It could signify the time of his promised return to judge the living and the dead on December the 25th.
So astrology makes perfect sense…so long as those lights in the sky are gods. If they turned out to be only balls of rock and gas circling the Sun millions of miles from Earth, well then…………….never mind.
