If you check my profile there is a small picture of her, but it doesn't come up as a pic on my posts, dunno why.....
Ahhhhhh! How cute. One good thing about small dogs is that they pretty much look the same when they 'grow up'. While I like dogs of any kind, puppies are so cute and the larger breeds of course don't look the same after a few months. I still call Woody, puppy, sometimes. I absolutly hate human babies but other kinds of animals are wonderful. Anyhow, Mabel is darling.
The reason the photo doesn't show up on the posts is, I think you have to have @tomic make it into the little 'thingie' so you can click it to be on here. They are two different things, the posts and the profiles. Ask @tomic to explain better.

For pics of the Kelpie / Dingo cross goto http://www.geocities.com/Petsburgh/6392/dingo.htm For pure bred Kelpie Pics go to http://members.ozemail.com.au/~kelpies/sale2.htm
The Kelpie looks so much like, have the markings of, a German Shepherd but with longer ears. I used to like them, Shepherds are a very handsome dogs too. I didn't know people kept Dingos. I thought they were just wild. Did you know we have a wild 'dog' here too. Coyotes, in the southwest. They come down from the hills and attack small pet dogs and cats and sometimes human children. It's the peoples fault for building on the wilderness areas where they used to live. Some people have them as pets but it's not common. Dingos look a little less vicious then Coyotes.

Yeah, the kelpie is a farm dog and the Dingo came accross with the Koori's about 40,000 years ago.
They interbred over the past two hundred odd years and have almost become a breed in themselves.
Unfortunately I had to get mine put to sleep because he bit a little girl. I had him for 4 years and he showed no signs of violence, even been to obedience school and was trained, but it must have been the wild dog in him because one day he just lost it.....the saddest day of my life.
Fortunately the girl only had to have stitches...it could have been worse...Jesse was a strong dog...
I buried him under a tree on his favorite walk....

As this is highly personal and emotional (for me) I won't go into it on the site here only to say, I understand your sadness. I'm on a Cocker e-group on Yahoo, we chat about our dogs, health issues and other things. Sometimes when one is sick we are asked to send 'crossed paws' for their recovery. Believe me, I know how everyone loves their companions. I think that little girl must have done something to provoke your dog. She should have been put to sleep. Sorry but when you hear so much about how humans mistreat other animals I have no sympathy for them. Was it the law that you had to do that? I wish there was some other way to handle the situation. I'm so sorry for your loss. |

Yeah, it was a touchy issue....unfortunately in our litigious world today I got threatened with all sorts of legal action because it happened in a public place. I honestly could not afford to go through with it so to keep all parties happy I did what I had to do....
Now that I am older and wiser (?) I might have done things differently, but when you are in your twenties and struggling to get through each pay week, sometimes you have to take the cheapest and easiest option. It was one I hated to do, but I felt I was backed into a corner.
I held his paw and looked in his eyes as the vet injected her….I'm quivering now….
Fucking lawyers....
