can finally dump some of me own reservations. Top of the list is the FBI, CIA, and NSA. We endured a wrenching attack, our first response is to open the purse, and throw money at it, the American way. Giving several more truck loads of money to these institutions. Actually don't know all that much about the NSA, except that me believes, they are mostly charged with collecting and interpereting, intelligence from our satellites, read Carnivore, the Magic Lantern, and Echelon global surveillance aparatus. What else, dunno. The FBI is the same institution, that gave us Ruby Ridge, and Waco. The CIA and FBI, has also produced Aims and Handson, from within their ranks. Their reaction to any misstep, has been denial and the assertion, that no mistakes were made, usually handing our medals and promotions to those, who perticipated in botched operations. Ya don't shoot yer only mule, but this hardly gives confidence to me, as little has really changed within them, except a better PR effort.
As we learn, our professionals had several significant clues of what was coming on 9-11, we are handing the same team more leeway in gathering intelligence, at the expense of our liberties. Hey, we all want to do our part, right, but the problem is, that liberties surrendered, seldom return. Do you think, that if we give them more "dots," they will connect them next time? Even with all this, our Vice President and the head of the FBI, assure us that we will be smacked again. Not if, not maybe, not when, point blank, we will be hit. We can't help you, we can't prevent it. So what is the point of handing them more money, giving up our privacy, then? If its just gonna happen like rain and taxes, a fact of modern life, why should we also have to endure these additional expenses imposed on us, by those, who are sworn to protect us? It is a five hour drive to San Diego, where my childern live, and a one hour flight. However with the new, and apparently pointless, security procedures, there is an additional two to three hours of standing in line as well. Drive, now, can play my music as loud as me wants, smoke as many coffin nails as me feels like, and break for a real meal, should me want, and even have change left over. So these twenty alien, god fearing, people, who commited the criminal acts of 9-11, entering our country legally, have succeeded additionally in completely disrupting our air travel system, for me anyway. Quite a feat.
At the very time when the CIA, the FBI, the NSA, and even the White House, was being bombarded by a steady stream of information pointing to the possibility of an impending terrorist attack, using hijacked airplanes, why did the Federal Aviation Administration suddenly decide to rescind a forty year old rule, allowing commercial airline pilots to carry firearms, while flying commercial airliners? Why did it take nine months of public debate, over whether or not to let pilots carry guns, to find out that, up until just about two months prior to 9-11, they were perfectly within their rights to do so? And why is it considered a 'bad ideal,' now?
Who is John O'Neill, anybody? He was the FBI's top anti-terror man in New York. His main areas of expertise were Al Qaeda, and Osama Bin Laden. FBI chief Louis Freeh said of him, "He was the paramount, most knowledgeable agent we had in the FBI, probably in the government, with respect to counter-intelligence matters." John's status explains why, he was one of only a few FBI agents, who got to lay eyes upon the fabled Phoenix Memorandum. But around about the time those "vague warnings" started pouring in, which just so happens to be around about the time Attorney General John Ashcroft, started using private chartered jets for his fishing trips, things took a change for the strange. Actually some could argue, the strangeness started immediately after our Supreme Court appointed Prez Dubya, assumed office in January of 2001. It was at this time that,
