Attention James... Since the Humor file was supposed to be for jokes only, I thought I'd better make a new folder so we could chat or debate separately.
I'd like to start this by saying, What's up with Wendy Wasserstein? You said I don't know who's who, well I've heard her name as an author but other than that never know what she's done. Tonight I saw her for the 1st time as she was being interviewed on The News Hour(on PBS). Was that a Halloween mask or What?!! Far be it for me to make fun of the deformed, in case she had facial reconstruction but it looked like she was talking through a mask. Talk about Lizzard people! So James or anyone else, I ask you, please explain the story behind her face. Thank you.

Ay, good idea, Snake.
I have no idea who this Wendy Wasserstein is. The only stein I've heard of recently is Ben Stein and I don't watch his show anymore, for two reasons: One, I've found something better to watch(M*A*S*H), and two, he made some crack against atheists. Besides, his show wasn't as funny as it used to be anymore.
Speaking of those whom make a crack against atheists, ya'll remember Star Jones and her crack about how she wouldn't vote for one for Prez? She's got a new commercial out. It's for Payless Shoes. Never really went there before, now I doubt I'll even think of heading there again.
Anyway, JMO.

Oh, so you see, not everyone can know everything, LOL. That's ok James, I only had heard the name, don't know anything about the books she's written, so we're kind of in the same boat there.

Same here. Funny I just saw one of those commericals, I don't pay attention to most anyway. You might consider writing the company a letter so they will know why you aren't buying from them. There's an e-group I'm on and they have been talking about that for a while now. We need to let people know we have numbers too, like the religious right. There's another guy on the radio named Sean Hannity (sp.), he talks about a TV show he has too but I don't know anything about that, have only been listening to him a few months since his show came on the air here in Los Angeles. But he's a SOB, arrogant jerk who won't let anyone say anything that's opposit to his views. I wish others would help protest him too. I believe people have a right to say what they want and there should be a place for everyone but when they ostracize and denouce without debate, that's out of line. If you don't like what Jones is doing you'll hate Sean. He's always saying terrible things about atheists. There have been times I want to punch my radio, that's how bad it is. Why do I listen you ask? I try not to, too often but there's not much on at that time and I like background noise while I'm working. Also I do like to hear various ideas, it just gets to be TOO much after a while.

Ms Wasserstein's face looks like that because the poor thing has to listen to her own voice every day. Imagine if you sounded like fingernails on a chalk board what might happen to your face. A little duct tape over her mouth and in ten to fifteen years she'll look normal.

Hey, these comments about boycotting products is great! Every day there are search engines that visit here that do nothing but watch out for brand names and such.

Really!!! Little ol' us?
Great I hope they do. I have plenty more to say about a lot of people and products. And you know I will.
Don't worry, I won't say anything that will cause a lawsuit, heh, he.

Maybe a hall of shame thread should be added to the site?

Cool, just tell me which products to boycott, and like most every other red-blooded male in the US, I'll ask the women in our house not to buy the stuff. Unfortunately, I'd probably be wasting my breath.
Do y'all think those marketing search engines would score any hits if we talked about Pet Rocks, Clackers, or Commodore 64's?

Now, they will. MIght not be at the top of the list, but we'll be there.

A very nice idea. Just post whichever products/businesses people think should be boycotted/not bought and why. Who knows, we just might change something...

Don't know if all that would be mentioned are nation wide or not but here are some for now that for a long time have been know to lean toward the right wing and donate money to such causes. Carl's Jr., Dominos Pizza, and one that I personaly have been boycotting since they announced they wouldn't sell Playboy, 7/11 stores.

OK, what the hell is a carl's Jr.?
Boycott Domino's Pizza--I think we already are, because they screwed up our order everytime we called, or took more than an hour.
As for the 7/11, I think the nearest one is an hour and a half away in New Orleans.
Playboy? We used to subsribe, but we were in financial straights a few years back, and I let the subscription lapse.
The only other thing I now boycott is CNN in the morning. Ever since this war on terrorism gave Israel and the PLO a free hand to act like children in a sand box, Paula Zahn has really started to bug me for some reason.
And, speaking of jokes I could pass on some Boudreaux and Thibodaux jokes, but some people think that they are racist. And, my father-in-law thinks that Boudreaux should be the straight guy, and Thibodaux the clown, but what do you expect from a father-in-law that's a Boudreaux?

Like I said some places might not be nation wide. Carl's Jr. is a fast food hamburger place, just like McDonalds. They have really good fries too. Damn!

Gees, you are lucky, we have one on every block. And their prices are higher then the market anyway.

I didn't mean to boycotte Playboy, only that 7/11 stopped selling them several years back, when the Religious Right started complaining about too much sex and whatever. I too used to subscribe but had to stop, not only for financial reason but too much clutter in my house(I keep everything) and for saving the trees. But I think it's a great publication, at least since the last time I saw it, years ago. Everyone should have at least one copy of it.

I don't have cable! Never saw CNN.

?? You've lost me! Don't know what that is.

Alright, I mostly mentioned letting my subscription to playboy lapse because I miss it. I certainly wouldn't be for a boycott of one of our foremost publications promoting free speech.
And, "Boudreaux and Thibodaux" is the local cultural version of Polish jokes, but Boudreaux and Thibodaux are near Cajun icons. The locals love these guys, but the expression 'Coonass' is no longer politically correct, and recently very derrogatory. You can visit Boudreaux and Thibodaux at http://home.att.net/~cajunplace2be/boudreaux.html
Enjoy
