Not really a 'skeptic' issue, but I just had to share this chilling and true news story. Article and another article.

Gaak the predator robot is the product of scientist in the Magna science centre in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. He has been programmed to learn and 'think'. He evolved in an environment of survival of the fittest where he was forced to fight his brothers in cruel arena battles for the entertainment of humans. He managed to almost escape his masters and got as far as the parking lot.

Gaak's bit for freedom might have failed, but will we be as lucky the next time?

But there's no need to worry, as although they can escape they are perfectly harmless and won't be taking over just yet.

Oh sure! That's what the scientists always says just before the killer robot, evil clone, chemically altered giant slug, or alien space blob starts turning the whole populace of the nearby town (especially the "frisky" teenagers) into a giant smorgasbord.
