No your statement is not relevant, and it is based on the arrogant idea that you are better than I because you think you've "served" the country, and I haven't. You are making assumptions from things that haven't been said. You are saying that because I do not want the genocide in Iraq to continue that I want to bomb the Post Office because everything the government does is "evil." You know, this line is really sad.
No, I never served in the military. People have, and have become pacifists because of it. Irrelevant. I am a citizen. My rights were given to me just as much by the people who never went to war as the people who did. The men and women who fought against the National Guard in the mines of Colorado gave me my rights much more so than the people who bombed villages in Vietnam. I'm not knocking those who served, I am saying that it was a crime to send those people there to serve.
Look. I appreciate your efforts in the military. Most of the things people in the military do I appreciate. My war is not with the soldiers. I don't want you dying and killing others for no good reason. You seem to think that's okay that soldiers die and kill for no good reason. I don't understand why that makes me the nut.

jec96 sounded pretty relevant to me.

He himself said that what he said wasn't relevant at all.

Holy hell, another Ranger on this BBS?! I'm not alone after all....... Hey Jec, I was in 3rd Bat. at Benning back in '92. How'd ya like RIP? I bet you're so happy the entire army went to being handed a black beret you went thru hell to get. Another case of lowering the standards.
I try to stick to topics relating to the military, considering my background. But you will find, Jec, no shortage of people without the slightest clue as to what the military does or goes thru that have no problem spouting off. Check out my other posts. Like the one on gays in the military. Not a single gay person nor a soldier has replied. But the thread is 6 pages long..... It's impossible to express those intangables like loss of privacy etc to people who have never done ANYTHING remotely similar. Summer camp ain't quite the same. But here, those intangables are verbotten! Someone will attack you for not using proper high school debate club rules if you base anything on an intangable. Which makes sense considering the lack of experience of the people who will jump on you for it. I don't discount the opinions of people because they didn't have the career I did. But I do take them with a grain of salt. They may be valid opinions, but they are not very informed ones unless you have direct experience.

--Okay, I just gotta say something here. that would be: BULLSHIT. What an arrogant, self-important pile of shite to even consider spewing. To claim that you've done a damn thing to protect the rights you enjoy is nauseating to those of us that have. This from the same puke that quotes some Zinn coward about expending lives, when it certainly won't be YOUR life anyway. Too many people in this country run on about that which they will never 'lower' themselves to doing. You don't know how pathetic it is to hear some candy-ass behind a computer screen running on about the soldiers (or the foreign policy that controls them) or some other thing they know nothing about as if they had a clue. As if somehow, we were on the same level. We'd rather you just say thank you and go back to whatever it was that was more important to you than protecting this country and it's freedoms. But don't for a second equate those on the sidelines running thier mouths with the men and women who actually do something to defend those rights. You enjoy rights. You have not earned them. Other people do that for you while you look for quotes to put on a BBS. Maybe Starship Troopers had the right idea. Although everyone gets treated well, you must first defend your citizenship before you can claim it. Bullshit walks, Gorgo, and we're stepping in all kinds of crap every time you open your mouth.

Anyone that wants to hide from the reality of the threat of terrorism, and refuses to take bold steps to combat it is a coward. Burying your head in the sand now is a cop out, just dumping the issue on someone else to have to clean up later. Cowardice. That's not leading. That's hesitating. Hesitation will get you killed. I'm glad there may (we'll see soon enough) be someone in charge that isn't so timid. Someone who isn't going to wait until another 3000 people die to take it the bad guys and kick some ass. You'd make America a pinata for every dipshit with an anti-US urge. That's why good generals are bold and audacious. They don't hem and haw over a threat, they act. Not dealing with Saddam now, hiding behind excuses, is cowardice. You just let a madman have more time to develop his weapons and pawn off the responsibility to deal with on a later generations/administration. Bush Sr. chickened out and we had a decade of crap from that slug. Clinton was always too much of a pussy to do anything while in office, so I hoping that Bush Jr. has the balls the last two presidents lacked.
