It is a nice gesture of defiance, but that is all it is.

First there would be the practical problem of finding out the identity of TIPSters. Those TIPS are supposed to be handled confidentaly from what I have heared. There also is the problem that withou a burocratic apparat behind this, this programm would be even more open to abuse then the TIPS programm itself.

There also is the reasuring fact that as long as programms like this anti-TIPS are tolerated you are not really living in a police state.

I could make the obligatory Stasi comparison here to show my general attitude towards the whole TIPS programm, but...

I am not keeping as up to date on US intenal politics as others on this board, but last I heared (about a week ago) the Justice department was going ahead with their Tips programm despite the ban.
