I delete almost every email message I receive and never download anything which possibly comes from strangers.

I would think most people who have been on the Internet for a while would do that. I do too. I used to download a lot, but now nothing even from friends. (unless it's something very speical and I know for sure they have virus protection on their computer)
It's a wonder how there are so many virus when people are warned to take precautions.

Snake:

Thanks. I additionally have both a virus protector and a fire wall on my computer which seem to correct most of my problems.

However, I still do not understand the psychology of the creeps. I can visualize them sitting there in front of monitors monotonously, hour after hour, attempting to hurt somebody else. Poor dregs. I really feel sorry for them. Being a *negative* throughout life (or even for a portion of life) must be a big problem for them.

I have neither a firewall nor a virus-detector on my machine. I don't really need to. Those personal firewalls will only give their users a false sense of security since only very few will be able to configure them to the point where they will actually be usefull. The best protectiona against being infected with a virus is simply not running any executables you get of the net.

What brothers me far then those random acts of vandalism are the type of comercially motivated e-bandits. Spyware and spammers being the worst. Everywhere you look they offer you some useless free little tool for download that will then try to do all kinds of things on your computer. And the worst part is that those people are actually acting mostly legal.
