Phil, thanks for the new folder on your forum. Wonder how long it will take the Planet X nuts to find it and start posting their "proof"?

I hope they come. It'll be fun, at least for a while (I grow tired of the Moon hoax crowd). I am low on time, but this guy James McCanney needs a page on my site too. He had some choice words about me in an interview he did a month ago...

"Is Pluto still a planet or was it demoted?"
Objects bigger than Pluto, have been found in the Kuiper Belt, thus the on going debate. Think the "historical arguement" will carry the day, when all is said and done. But as of now, Pluto is still considered a planet.

No, I don't think any objects in the Kuiper Belt bigger than Pluto have been found yet.
The largest Kuiper Belt object discovered so far is 2001 KX76, which is slightly bigger than Pluto's moon Charon.

Audio didn't connect, so I went to his website: http://www.blindsidedplanetx.com/physicist.htm Oh brother! Atlantis, Velikovsky, Planet X? This James McCanney, what did he do? Get a degree in physics and then run off into yaya land? P.S. -- Phil, did you get those CDs? I sent you (via Sonoma) Malcolm Arnold's "Scottish Dances" and other big orchestral works for your musical soul! "Chip"

Yep, 2001 KX76 calculated now at a diameter of 745 miles (1,200 km) or maybe a bit more, was the object that came to mind, AstroMike. Just a smigen, (tech term), larger than Charon. Your correction, totally correct, made me go dig out the article, that left me with such an impression. To quote, "Ever bigger Kuiper Belt objects are being discovered, approaching the size of Pluto. Many expect this trend continue until another object as large or larger than Pluto is found." Stand corrected, but you'll agree, Pluto is still considered a planet. Huh?

Yes I did, and thanks! That was a most unexpected and pleasant surprise. I was going to draft an actual letter today to you, but I wound up going home sick. I'm fine now, so I'll send it hopefully tomorrow.

So you could find out how big a greenhorn I am, how I give everyone the NASA party line, how I am deluded, and, best of all, how James McCanney and I would be friends if we ever met.
I am trying to figure out which of these is the most absurd. I am leaning toward the last, actually. :-)

BA,
At least he called you "young". If someone calls me young, I take it as a complement. :)

Actually, I only listened to about an hour of it before I couldn't take it anymore... He stopped talking about Planet X anyway. I may listen to the rest of it when my ulcer settles down... :)
It got to the point everytime the interviewer called him 'professor', my teeth itched. The albedo of venus is 98%??? Planet X has been visible since '91 in an 8 inch 'scope??? This guy use to teach astronomy???
You sure must have got under his skin to make an impression like that to him, Phil. :)
Oh, how about the line about how most of astronomy is based on Velikovsky? lol
I can't decide which howler was my favorite.
Well, maybe 'favorite' isn't the right word...
I'm not sure I want him showing up on the BABB, I'm not sure I can remain civil. Calling him a "kook" would be kind.
