These people might be coming to a town near you. They're in my town this month. They promote "self-healing" through quantum physics! http://www.energeticliberation.com/ I suppose x-rays or cat scans have a quantum element to them, on the atomic level. But those are diagnostic tools, with "healing" coming with later treatment. But I'm being much too analytical, after all, isn't "quantum" a cool sounding word? "Energy" is another catch word! And, of course, "dollars" is a nice incentive word. Anyway, what a great idea! They can always use the "uncertainty principle" as a disclaimer!

At least they had the decency to include:
quote:
If, at any time you feel that you need a medical opinion or attention , go and see your doctor. It is important to know what is happening! The doctor can tell you and help.
It may be merely a standard disclaimer, but at least it is there, eh?

OK, after further perusal of that site, I retract my last statement. These guys are full of ... you get the idea. They employ the standard technique of using scientific words with new-age ideas and offering little or no attempt at explanation. They did, however, provide detailed instructions about sending them money (the important thing, I suppose).

I doped them a little note....

quote:
To whom it may concern,

On your site you say:

"The Quantum Prayer Wheel is based upon an advance in prayer "technology," using principles derived from research
in quantum physics combined with the ancient philosophies behind the Tibetan prayer wheel. The Quantum Prayer Program is a service offered by Energetic
Liberation to provide this technology for individuals, couples, families, and pets. The QPP works and communicates with the energies of your own consciousness in the subspace dimension, which
connects All That Is in the Universe. Participating in this program supports you in removing imbalances and blocks
from your energetic matrix, or field. It is these imbalances that impede the natural and effortless flow of an optimal expression of your personal frequency signature. The QPP provides balancing energetic frequencies for you, 24 hours
a day, all year round."

OK, I'll bite. Just exactly what "principles derived from research in quantum physics " are you able to use to promote better health? Perhaps you are hoping that no one who reads this will know what the hell you are talking about, but understand that it sounds very scientific and therefor, worthy.

There are so many Internet quacks that, much as I hate to say it, you are more like background noise than anything
ells. Nevertheless, I really would like an answer to my question. Naturally, I'll be amazed if you actually write back. But if you do, I promise to post your response on our site, just as I am posting this letter on our site.

Sincerely,
David Glück

The Quantum Prayer Program has no recognized value, beyond that which the individual participants assign to it.

Essentially they admit it's just the placebo effect.

quote:
The QPP is a spiritual technology using advanced mathematics, fractals and prayers.

I'll admit to having muttered an "Oh, God" or two on calculus tests but how does one combine mathematics and prayer?

quote:
QPP is set and operates at natural biological levels. So the interface is most often not felt directly. But the effects are nonetheless dramatic, even though they are below conscious perception. Still, the unconscious will perceive the healing effects.

So, you can't sense it, but it works. Standard quack illogic.

Last, but certainly not least, here's my favorite:
quote:
(As I write this, I am experiencing a swollen ankle as I detox a "prion," and have been a recipient of energetic balancing for 3 years.)

More quasi-scientific hogwash. All known prion diseases are spongiform encephalopathies (http://www-micro.msb.le.ac.uk/335/Prions.html) which affect the brain, not the ankle.

It's a problem of spongy brains alright, but not due to prions.

Yes - The "Quantum Hucksters" - I got their website address from their flyer (which is up in several coffee shops in town.) As I read it, I thought, "I've got to tell the Skeptic Friends about this!" They also have different price levels for their "services" ranging from several hundred to a thousand dollars.

I joked about using the uncertainty principle as a disclaimer, but somewhere on their site, they sort of do! They mention the term at least. I guess there's a probability that sending a prayer changes the outcome!

You're all brilliant - Kil, your note to them is just great too. I agree they won't answer. If they stay in business long enough, maybe they'll make the already long list at Crank.net!
