jmcginn, irrational is as irrational does.
We all have our own, favorite fantasies. The difference is that at least some of us realize that a fantasy is just that: a waking dream conjured by ourselves up for our private amusment. Unfortunatly, the fantasies conjured up by the worlds religions seem to stick tightly to the intellects of those who want to believe in, well, anything.
It seems that a whole lot of odd life forms survived upon floating mats, or so I've been told that I should believe without question. I must admit though, that the, "Jump off, make tracks and trails, then jump back on," is a new one.
Kind'a reachin' for it, ain't he?

Oh yes I can't agree more, fantasies are quite fun, but when they start to interfere with reality they become, well quite dangerous. Kind of like those old Reese's Peanut Butter Cup commercials, "Hey you got your fantasy in my reality", "No you got your reality in my fantasy"
Well that comes down to the hole the creationists has dug for himself. He is forced to bend and warp (or downright fabricate) all facts into his world view instead of adapting his world view to the facts. It leaves them looking quite silly when they try to describe certain facts and those are always fun to point out.
They are also quite perplexed when they realize that their explanations have to agree and cannot contradict each other. This one usually sends them over the deep end, after spending hours and enormous effort to construct explanations for two different phenomona, someone will point out that they are fattaly contradictory. |

We know that atoms in nuclear fusion and fission grow smaller and hence this mass is released as energy, therefore how can all the energy be used up and yet atoms are left floating around!>???
Dunno if me has this exactly right, but this is how me tinks of it... The energy of the universe isn't exactly "used up," it is converted to heat. Think the total energy/matter of the universe remains the same, But the universe will continue expanding till eventually the energy/matter in it, will be spread so thin, the universe will become 'cold' and 'empty' relative to how we see it, now.
Is that close? |
