From the article:
quote:
"If the product didn't work, I don't think I could keep my business," Park said.

Two words: John Edward.

quote:
"Why would I say, 'yes, test this,' if I didn't have confidence in my product? Just because the Mayo Clinic is a good company, it doesn't mean they did a good job."

Hey, maybe the Mayo Clinic secretly ionized the non-ionized bracelets just to mess with the results. Oh, of course:
quote:
Park pointed to possible flaws in the study including a potential mixup in ionized versus non-ionized samples.

Yes, I'm sure such experimental errors are plainly obvious to this clown.

The people that claim this product works wonders are probably popping tylenol-3's in their spare time. The bottom line is that like many healing remedies, its nothing more than a placaebo. People are led to believe it has healing properties so their mind believes they are experiencing less pain.

Good examples of Placaebos

1. A friend of mine recently strained his knee, so to do physical activity he wore a knee brace that came with magnets to stick onto it. When asked what the magnets did he replied, "They create a magnetic field or something like that to help it heal faster." I seriously doubt it did anything for him at all that a regular brace wouldn't have but he seemed happy with it.

2. I worked at a summer camp for the past 2 years, and there are quite a number of small children (6-8 years) that tend to get homesick. To remedy the homesickness we give them pokemon vitamins and tell the kids they're eating homesick pills and it hasn't failed us once.

Funny, all the pharmacies around here sell this junk...mostly copper bracelets and magnets...therefore, it must work. Another funny thing...It usually takes about a week for these things to work. Go figure!

I think it's a fashion statement.

As piles of crap go, these bracelets at least haven't done anyone any harm (aside from lightening the wallets of the gullible, and why can't I work up a little more sympathy?). Too bad that can't be said for all too many other quackeries.

"Caveat emptor," is still one of the world's great pieces of advice.

Caveat Emptor = Let the buyer beware, right?

Thank you all, that article helped make my day :)
