I go to the Forums home page, and it tells me that (a) there are new posts in the Religion Forum.
The Last Post field tells me that darwin alogos poisted something at 10:36:09.
When I go to the Religion Forum, both pieces of information are confirmed - I can see that DA posted to the DJRE/5 thread.
When, however, I acces that thread, the last entry is Slater's. Refreshing the screen does no good.
While his is, no doubt, the saner of the two, I would still like the problem fixed. I'll try posting a 'test' message, just to see what happens ... interesting. I now have a page 2 starting with something from Computer Org, but still no DA. Oh, well.

What happened is this:
Computer Org is the first post on page 2
DA edited a post and was the most recent change to that entire thread and since only one thing can be the last post it doesn't distinguish between edits and new posts since both are valid changes to the topic.

Thanks, but what I do not understand is the relatively long period of time during which I could see neither post. Oh, well, back to watching folks avoid the paleography thread ... |

Hmmm, damed by faint praise. More sane than DA!! If I could get these overly long canvas sleeves loose (I'm typing with my nose. Shifting is a bitch) I'd tell you a thing or two.
It seems that if anyone--even me--makes a correction on a page (in religion) I can no longer open that page. Ahh, technology, it's great........when it works. |

One thing I see is that you are both using the same browser IE 5.xx yet you are both using far different operating systems. Now, slater's might be the latest version but RD, you should upgrade for a variety of reasons not the least of which is security. I still don't see why an edit would lock out a page, though, because the page is the same except for some edited text in a post.

Not locked, as it were, it starts to load, the timer spins around. But it never loads the copy. If I press Stop the graphics at the top of the page show up but the rest is blank |

I have the same problem. In threads, most often it turned out to be someone with no avatar who didn't re-choose no avatar. The threads would only load as far as that persons post. I have been turning on those peoples avatars (including no avatar) ever since.
Also, the forum doesn't always load when I first arrive. I go to the main page and click on forum when that happens. What's weird is that most of the time it loads. But not always. Probably something @tomic threw in so that we Mac users would give up and get a PC....

If this continues to happen, PM the forum moderator (me, in this case) and ask him/her for any information you may need (eg. posts since your last) and tell him/her where the page stopped loading (ie. on a particular post, or just the icons on the top of the page). This will help determine the exact cause of the problem. |

After I went back and fixed some of DA's forum code slater was able to access those pages again.
While this only happens to a few people it will be a good idea to for moderators to fix formatting when they see it.
