While posting I have noticed that after I am done writing my text and I want to go back and add say a smilie or put a format modifier on my text, I have problems with it not inserting the mod where the cursor is, instead it puts it at the end of the post.
For instance, from the above text I typed, if I highlight all the text from the previous paragraph and then click the "Bold" format button, it just sticks the HTML tags at the end of my last paragraph. It does the same for smilies. Is this a problem to anyone else, or it it just on my side.
It started doing that within the last week or so.
It's not really a problem per se, its just annoying.

Did you recently change broswers? I just tested it myself and it all seems to work fine. Forum code will only wrap around text if you are using IE. I know of no other effective, safe editor that will work like this unless it's IE on the windows platform.

I had that same issue before @tomic gave us this high-speed Snitz forum, but no longer. I also upgraded ie around the same time, so I'm not sure which caused the fix. |

Test Test

Wow, that's just plain silly. I switched over to Netscape 7 to give it a try cause I was a big fan back in the day (before AOL.)
You hit it on the nose though, as soon as I try it with IE, I get no problems. Damn, so much for getting MS products off my computer. There is just no getting around it!!

Marine? Flashbacks? You need to ask Trish about that one (where's she been recently anyway?) No, I mean "high speed" in the literal sense, eh?
Edited to add: I, my friend, am a Sailor. [sneer]"Marine flashbacks"[/sneer] hmph. |

I would just like to add to this that while I can understand experimenting with other browsers, ultimately you are giving up functionality. Opera, Netscape, Mozilla and all those others technically work but the whole web experience is degraded. I have yet to see a good argument for their use and "I just don't like Microsoft" doesn't make much sense to me as a reason to use inferior software.

Ahh it's mostly just me being cynical towards MS. I used every MS-DOS since 3.3, switched to Windows 95 and have upgraded every OS release since. I'm using XP now. So I guess I am a hypocritical cynic too.
I just like the idea of getting away from everything I use being from major corporations when it comes to hardware and software. Like the days when IBM was cornering the market on servers. It either pushed out the smaller companies or forced them to make standards that were were different so you had this big mess of different platforms with no direction to the PC world. Need I mention ISA (which wasn't that terrible) and the whole Bill Gates "Who will ever need more than 640k" limitations of MS-DOS (which still have vestiges in today's Windows.)
Now we have some direction. PC technology and software are beginning to standardize things and we are seeing big steps in almost every facet of technology.
The only problem is, MS gets so big that it starts to make every decision. Now we are back to one company making decisions for everybody else. (slippery slope, I know )
I think it's mostly just my futile stand against "The Man." I think for the most part MS makes quality software. I use it, and will continue to. But if I find a piece of software that is equal in quality, I would probably lean towards the 3rd party stuff just based on the fact that it isn't MS.

Well one good argument could be that microsoft does not make IE for the operating sytem computer you are using. And there many good reasons why somebody might not use Windows or a PC.
Another reason often given is Security.
I use Opera for a variety of reasons. It is small, fast and avaidable for a number of different platforms. It also has a number of small probably unimportant features that I like. Like turning pop-ups on and off with two clicks. The mouse-gestures and the integration of search engines are very helpfull. Together with the ability to open and close the browser while having a dozend different windows open without losing your pages, those features make Opera very easy to use for stuff like researching info on the web.
What kind of functionality am I missing through my degraded web experience on an inferior browser?

PS:
What I actually wanted to ask was why some posts are apearing in different font sizes than others is that one of those browser related problems? |

I can see no difference in the apperance of pages using Mozilla or IE. Mozilla happens to be faster and is less clutterd by features I hardly ever use. I know you would like this to be an MS/PC world. That long standing bias simply ignores those of us who aren't techs and have a better browsing experience using other browsers. IE was my browser of choice. Mozilla rocks. I still use both.... |
