Actually yesterday I came along a statement in any discussion forum, which focused the form of the design of our homeplanet, the earth. Rather than a ball with squezzed zones, the poles, it shall be a donut !

However, after registration I cannot find this interesting topic anymore.
Moreover it is worth knowing the author of this new theory,
in order to discuss arguments of his new design concept...

It's a series of science fiction books called Ring World by Larry Niven. There's a dozen or more web sites that deal with these books.

There is also the Gaien Trilogy (Titan, Wizard, and Demon) by John Varley. Not science exactly, but a good read.

Yeah there are indeed a full bunch of strange sites containining any association with various ring theories of Larry Niven... somehow the links of his best sounding book "Ring of Tree Engineeers" was not available until today... do ya have any source of an overview or summary of the content ?
Nevertheless, these futuristic Jules Verne appliances had nothing in common which the topic asked for... rather than utopic the "donut" theory was meant in some scientific way, containing NASA material...(?!)
