You don't need an old or cheap lens for flare or glare, just as you said, a bad photographer, haha. Aim slightly off angle but towards the light/sun.

If you are really interested in creating a convincing hoax, I would suggest practicing with artificial lighting, smoke, very sheer materials, home made filters and perhaps a filter spiked with a little vaseline with some unique lighting angles..
That's right. I didn't say anything because there are endless things one can do. Just thought of this, if your camera has a stupid build in flash, shoot facing a window.

On the other hand, a 35mm or medium format shot would offer much more detail, and be more convincing in the long run. Then, there is multiple exposures, and infra-red film that may add interesting effects. Plus, if you're like Snake, and can do your own darkroom work, you can bring out specific features, turning weaknesses into strengths, especially if you use very forgiving films like Tri-X. But, I know little of actually processing, aside from leaving my requests with a local custom lab.
Yes, anything one can do 'outside' the camera...during the expossure, one can do inside the darkroom, during the printmaking process. My favorite film is litho, very creative but not for making 'realistic' ghosts, etc. Digital cameras, bah! Tried to use one a couple of weeks ago, didn't even know how to snap the picture. I hear if you get a pro cramera for $5000 they are as good as a SLR but the ones I've seen I don't understand how they get depth of field or any other important elements of a good photo. Sorry.....got a bit sidetracked, off the subject. Wish we could talk in person, show and tell is easier then trying to write. |
