Guy two blocks over from us owns an early (pre-"Stingray") Corvette. Two-tone red and white. Nice! I like the old Maseratis but with Corvettes you can still get parts, and (even though I irrationally still like Maserati,) I have to admit, the Corvettes are better built.

I don't know what kind of leather Toyota uses, but in old Jags, and our BMW, the leather is a smooth, delightful treat. (Even where its a bit old, dry, and cracked.) There's something about sitting behind the wheel and smelling leather, a faint wiff of oil. Looking at instruments mounted in a wooden dash...not luxury - sports cars are hot, noisy fun. My girlfriend digs it too -- Weird huh?

If you want to know the reason why we don't have practical cars watch the movie 'Who Killed Roger Rabit'...(&)'Chinatown' is another that exposes the corruption...
Yup, there's truth to that! I think its all going to meld into a rapid transit future eventually - a long time from now - maybe attitudes towards cars will change with better electric cars, or the USA finally gets better trains as in Japan, who knows. One thing is for sure, we won't be seeing those cool Monorails we saw at Disneyland when we were kids, and were assured that we'd have futuristic rapid transit in all our cities in the future! It will be a long while before that happens!

Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.
"TAX AND SPEND" IS GOOD! (TAX: Wealthy corporations who won't go poor even after taxes. SPEND: On public works programs, education, the environment, improvements.) |

I don't know either and I don't care! YUK, YUK, YUK. Whatever kind it is, the thought of sitting on something dead is disgusting.

Don't know about the way it is right now but several years ago when I was in England I was more than impressed by their system. You hardly wait 5 mins. before a (subway) train arrives and departs. Even as a foreigner I could understand the schedule and language. Japan was another story, it was nice but a friend who lives there took us around. I vote for England and the people are nice there too. If Americans weren't so snoby and rude I think they should ask the British to come here and show us how to build it.

Yes, a LONG while. Americans are too selfish and stubborn. |

Nooooo. But do you believe that those who talk on the phone while driving should be summarily executed? |

My 1st thought was YES, Yes, yes. But then I had to remember I don't belive in the death penalty. So, as with others who fit in that catagory of evil doers, their punishment should be to get in a horrid accident and have to live the rest of their hopefully long lives in pain knowing that they were the cause of it. |

I know it's impolite to quote (and answer) your own posts but . . . .
I totally QUIT driving 5 years ago next month. I walk. Parked the car. Period. Try to not even use public transportation --- and average only about one bus-ride every 3 months. (I did it for environmental & ecological reasons but the health benefits were phenominal and totally unexpected.) It's a 6-mile walk (3 each way) for me to get on the Web at the local Public Library; 4-6 miles to the grocery (depending on which one I go to).
