A dollar to a dime, (Monopoly money of course), the original ruling of the 9th Circuit is overturned by a vote of 5 to 4. Or 7 to 2 if a few of the high court justices start seeing the shadow of impeachment over their shoulders!

Yeah, probably right. In fact, I'll borrow a real dollar from my son-in-law and wager that.
Say, wouldn't you have liked to have been the pilot who flew Bush out to the carrier? I would!

Here's a few questions
1) How much did it cost to have the plane repainted with that cocksucker's name on it?
2) He admits to flying the plane for 1/3 of the flight. Why was he allowed to? His flight status was revolked in 1972 after he refused to take a flight readiness physical and he is not checked out on the craft.

Given that the pledge, as it currently stands, is unconstitutional, and given that the Bush administration is pushing hard to keep it the way it is (in its unconstitutional form), doesn't this mean that Bush is violating his oath of office? After all, he has sworn to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Of course, this doesn't even take into account his other failures to "preserve, protect, and defend" the Constitution, such as his attempts to trash the First Ammendment with his "Faith-based Initiative", and his multiple assaults with the two Patriot Acts.
I believe that the Constitution of the United States is America, for without it there would be no nation for us to be patriots of, nothing but some land for which we would still br squabbling! |

Really, and he's gone further in stating that this issue is one of the reasons that he is only going to nominate judges that are strong believers in God. We can add his executive orders to dismiss the Presidential Records Act, and parts of the Freedom of Information Act. I don't even want to think about all of the provisions of the Patriot Act, or school vouchers for religious schools. I could go on, and maybe one day when I have lots of time to do the necessary research, I'll post all of this administration's instances of Constitutional violations. Perhaps, someone could start another thread to discuss each of them? It could be interesting...I just wish that we had some staunch Bush supporters to present both sides.

Never mind the friggin' paint job!!! How about the taxpayer cost for prepping the aircraft carrier for this "photo-op"; the media, the security, the military escorts. Yikes!
P.S. I "trapped" on a carrier in my Navy days, and it beats the Hell out of any roller coaster anyday. Too bad the Navy didn't elect to "shoot" Bush off the catapult and have it mis-fire.
NOW HEAR THIS --- PLANE IN THE WATER --- STARBOARD SIDE! (we can always dream, *sigh*)

A few years ago, my brother, who has no flight training of any kind, sat in the right seat of a Cessna I piloted from Michigan to Idaho. I let him fly the plane for several hours. He had a ball. I don't understand the point of your complaint, unless you are just using it as an excuse to rant against someone you severely dislike.

xouper, welcome to the site!
To address your point: I could not tell from your profile if you are affiliated with the military. In the military (and the Navy, specifically) you must be qualified to operate any equipment. A Mess Specialist (cook) is not allowed to operate a sonar station (unless qualified, of course, but that's a more involved story). Similarly, not even the Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Clark, is allowed to operate a valve on a ship, let alone fly an airplane. Why should the president not uphold the same standards he enforces?
I understand the majority of flying does not require extensive certification, just like the majority of driving a ship isn't terribly difficult, but the Navy is very strict on these matters. I am not yet qualified to stand OOD (Officer of the Deck, the guy who drives the boat) even though I've been in the Navy for 6 years, thus I don't drive the ship. Mr. Bush has lost his certification to fly, thus he doesn't fly the plane. I believe that is Valiant Dancer's point. |

Big diff between a Cessna and a military bird. Also, his flight status was revolked because he refused a direct order to submit to a flight readiness physical in 1972. Why is he allowed to fly a military aircraft in light of his flight status that he has not attempted to rectify?
