What the Hell is going on with CBS?!
Came across this whilst at work late at night. Looks like someone high up got into an editors ear and made them change the headline, well not just the headline, but the story. Rove maybe????
Probably is more like it
It often amuses me that the media had a field day on Clintons blow job, but a president sends the citizens he pertains to care about to a dirty war and possible death and they protect the prick.
It's not much better here in Oz, Murdoch owns 60% of the papers.
No journalists will ask these men the hard questions, that is if they even get the oppertunity.

Back in the days of Bush I, I was on my way to work in the morning and saw this headline on the front page of the Philadelphia Inquirer (the article was about a tax bill):
NO NEW TAXES ON THE RICH
By the next edition that had been changed to something so bland and boring that I can't even remember it. The original headline had only lasted until the suits dragged into the office and discovered that the paper was saying something that didn't support their class interests.
This is just more of the same; an illustration that:
1. Corporate legal departments are a lot like the herd of bulls in the Merrill Lynch commercials. They spend half their time making bullshit and the other half panicking.
2. Media suits have no balls and only rudimentary weenies.

The internet is such a wonderful resource! All of the news I get comes from it (my stupid toob now works, but about all I watch is The Simpsons and WWE Smack Down. And PBS. And the occasional flick). The beauty of it is that I can find all of the various takes on a subject, be it CBS, NBC, ABC, Buzzflash, Spinsanity, or The Onion. I especaly like Spinsanity. They'll hit liberals for dishonesty as hard as they will 'compassionate' ( ) conservitives. I like that.
I too, have come to the conclusion that the mainstream news is produced by a collection of arrogant pussies who are scarcly interested in informing the public. Their interest is mainly in profits and performing fellatio upon the administration to increase those profits. The stations do the bidding of their owner/masters. And alas, no matter how deep their bovine feces might be, all too many of the toob-watching public will scarf it up.
But, from what I've seen very recently, there might be some faint cracks forming in the facade. I think that this might be due to internet use becoming ever more popular and access, at libraries and the like, easier. Lies and misrepresentations come to light quicker. I don't think the 'powers that be' quite know how to deal with the 'net.
May this faintest of trends soon become as strong as the Alice's Resturant Anti-Massacree Movement!

This may or may not be relevant, but the source for at least one media story that made the same claim, that CIA briefers had told Bush the Niger uranium claim was false, has turned out to be a con-man and fraud who calls himself Terrance Wilkinson. "Wilkinson" is fairly well-known among those who expose fake special forces operatives, as well as among some Congressional staffers, but, in the classic con-artist style of audacity as a response to exposure, he can apparently still find victims. |

I don't think it is a red herring, I saw the link to the original headline at Buzzflash where it said "Bush knew Iraq info was False", then it was changed from "False" to "Dubious" and the story changed somewhat.
The link you have provided points to a different story, blaming the CIA (typical). Do a search on the CBS website and you will NOT find the original story that has been cut and pasted on Take Back the Media.
Go here and you won't find the original article. Nothing about falsities what-so-ever.
The actaul name of the html document for the current latest news is main541815.shtml which is different to what you state as the latest which was main560449.shtml.
It isll quite dubious methinks
Edited because I confused my URL's |

Yikes, what happened to my original message? main560449 was the html title for the original story, the one that was supposedly suppressed. main541815 is the html title for a summary of the latest news, not the story itself. The original story is now linked from 560449. Since it is no longer "latest news" there is no reason for it to appear on main541815 or to be linked directly from there. It is in fact linked indirectly through the new story, "Blame game over WMD claims." The headline and intro of the original story, appearing now at main561741, has been altered, but these alterations are more consistent with the actual text, which alleges doubt rather than positive knowledge of falsehood. If we apply Occam's Razor, it is more likely that this is simply ongoing editing rather than some sinister conspiracy. The text of the original article was posted last night on Free Republic, something that takebackthemedia failed to do. The only change in the text, as opposed to the headline/intro, of the current version is the addition of the second paragraph, which refers to a relevant statement made today by national security advisor Condoleeza Rice, that is, after the original story was posted last night, US time. (edited for code and to correct typo) |

Snake me love, a life without soap opery is, in this age, dull. The WWE is the best soap opery ever produced.
Actually, I have something of a minor history in pro wrestling. One of my high school friends was the step-son of Chief Bigheart, a famous westler in the '50s. I used to go to the shows (can't really call them matches) with the family. I've met Killer Kolwalski, the Graham brothers, Yukon Eric, Argentina Rocca (absolutly the best), Timothy Geohagen, Classy Freddy Blassie, and many others.
My favorite rassler will always be Mad Dog Vashon, whom I've also met, but not at that time. Alas, he lost a leg in an auto crash. But he always put on a great, often bloody, show (the blood is real. It is always scalp cuts -- mostly painless and very messy. You can spot a long-time pro by the scars on his forehead. Bigheart's and Maurice's foreheads resembled road maps).
Yeah, I guess you might call me an educated fan. Love it!
Vince McMahon is a genius. He has turned it all from a mere show into a huge production.

Ok, if one has to watch that sort of thing, I guess we all have our own idea of entertainment. Once only in my life I'm ashamed to say, I used to watch a soap opera many years ago for about a year. It got so tired after a while and I realized that one could get 'hocked' on it. (Like the couple in the resturant in the Twilight Zone who kept puting pennies in the fortune telling machine.) I don't need to watch someone elses story I have my own.

That's the only name I know of who you mentioned and yes, he was(or is....is he still alive?) a handsom gentleman.

OH YUCK! More info than we needed to know.

I know it's a big show but that man (as nice as he might be off camera) 1st of all is ugly and 2nd I just don't like his act/performance.
About CBS, just remembered, this guy who I went to school with, I heard a few years ago was some sort of executive (probably a low level producer) at CBS. Judging from what I know about him and his snoby social climbing friends I can see why/how no one would want to 'rock the boat'. And if this means anything, his brother, also last I heard was a newspaper reporter. Sort of an interesting conection. |
