Pat Robertson is unhappy with the Supreme Court and he is now
taking his complaints to a higher authority.
quote:
"We ask for miracles in regard to the Supreme Court," Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "The 700 Club."

Robertson has launched a 21-day "prayer offensive" directed at the Supreme Court in the wake of its 6-3 June vote that decriminalized sodomy. Robertson said in a letter on the CBN Web site that the ruling "has opened the door to homosexual marriage, bigamy, legalized prostitution and even incest."

The same letter targets three justices in particular: "One justice is 83-years-old, another has cancer and another has a heart condition. Would it not be possible for God to put it in the minds of these three judges that the time has come to retire?"

Judging from the descriptions, Robertson was referring to Justice John Paul Stevens, who was born in 1920, and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who had colon cancer surgery in 1999. The identity of the third justice was unclear.

In citing the justices' health problems, Robertson is obviously hoping for something more than a divinely inspired retirement.

Sheesh. That guy's a manipulative jack ass, isn't he? He knows that his viewers will now start putting pressure on them somehow, and if so, guess "who" will get the credit?

"Another answer to prayer"! He'll say.

Maybe people should start talking publicly about his "friend" Mr. Taylor, now that the administration is focussing in on him.

People should start phoning his show and mentioning THAT!

Hell, maybe this whole thing is something he's cooked up to get people's minds off of Taylor?

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Yeah, but Pat's so damned cute when he squeezes his eyes real tightly closed when he prays. Maybe, he thinks the harder you contract the muscles in your face, the better God can hear your prayers. Frankly, though, I think when he prays for the death...er, I mean retirement of the liberal judges he looks like he's got real bad gas.

Seriously, I think Pat and all his buds have lost this one already. Even their president appointed by God and the Court isn't going after it. Bush is using the political power of talking about anything else, including yellowcake from Niger.

The GLBT community has scored twice in the past few weeks. Who knows, maybe gay unions are right around the corner, and then we can watch Pat, all his buddies, and Scalia and Thomas really squirm.

The only difference between Robertson and Jim Bakker is that Robertson is smarter. Both have made fortunes from milking the faithful. Another difference is that Robertson has a gold mine deal brewing, but if a certain, African Asshole steps down, or someone puts a well-deserved bullet into his psychotic gourd, Paddy just might lose out to the tune of 8 mil. Pity .

The sodomy decison put down by the Supremes (whom I've been pissed at since 2000!) is a wonderful boon to Pat. I'll bet he sucks at least a mil out of the faithful with it. Probably more. his 'Death Prayer' (widely broadcasted) is the beginning of the directional vacume.

For the very few here that are not well informed about Robertson's activities, this deal with Taylor is not his first adventure into shady business/political dealings. I remembered some questions concerning Robertson's Diamond mines in Africa, his illegal use of his Operation Blessing and his dealings with Mobuto Sese Seko. So, I did a quick web search , and came up with the following. I'm sure some of you would be able to find better sources.

There's little doubt that Robertson is a shameless profiteer willing to use whatever means he has at his disposal to line his own pockets. If it means cutting a few deals with ruthless dictators, lying to his followers to get more money, or defrauding the American people of tax dollars he sees no problems. This is the new Christianity. Today, the words of Jesus are taking a back seat to personal wealth. The hypocrisy is boundless.

Pat Robertson--another reason Churches should be taxed like all other for profit institutions.
