apparently the body loses about 21g on the exact moment of death. There's even a film about it (havent seen it). Some peopel say its the spirit leaving the body ~_^ Others say flatulence, is this even losely based on any scientific observation?

What are you looking at? Haven't you ever seen a pink shirt before?

What's your source? The Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance lists this as a possible Christian Urban Legend, possibly stemming from an article in 1907.

It's not entirly false. A corpse can lose weight as spincters relax. They can also lose through evaporation, depending on conditions. Of course, there's no exact amount of weight, such as 21g, for all corpses.

Every time I see something like this, I wonder something like: what, did they lay the poor bastard on a scale to die?

If this were true that would mean that the 'spirit' is not spirit. That is to say, that the spirit is matter. If the spirit is matter then it must interact with the physical world. Maybe, if this is true we could setup some sort of shopvac type system and suck the spirit into a glass bottle. Then instead of just having grampa's ashes on the mantel we could have grampa's soul. Or if someone is afraid of going to hell we could suck their soul into a bottle and they can stay there to avoid hell for awhile. You could set the bottle in front of the TV so the soul wouldn't get too board. What a minute, I think that we could make some money here..... Excuse me, I have to whip up an internet site real quickly!

If I knew then what I know now then I would know more now than I know.
