A few, outrageous comments was all I was really capable of. I soon enough became bored with it and not too long afterward, I pretty much abandoned SDMB for that same reason.

So anyhow, again, welcome. Looking forward to your input.

thanks. one thing i didnt say was in my history thread there were two posters with 300+ posts who all but said "Hey bodini. I'm a sock puppet. Ha ha." It was after i got banned so i could just sit here, at same computer i'm using not, and watch it. sucked.

Dont miss the sdmb. Not at all. Just check in now&then to see if blatant censorship in the good U.S. of A. is still ripe.

Our little lizzards are everywhere over New Florida.

Uh. "New Florida." Do u follow the stuff on alternative histories? The State of New Florida happened when Abe Lincoln decided to make a Fereral stronghold in Miami then grabbed northward to a line roughly from Datona Beach in the east to north of Tampa Bay in the west. They called it "New Florida." Florida in the north of the state didn't really have the troops to oppose the new state in the south so it stuck even in those alternatives where the Confederate States 'won' the war. There was a strong anti-war Union General who ran against Lincoln's 2nd term on the Democratic ticket. In our alternative history he lost to Lincoln and the Union won the war.

Cool stuff, alternative histories. Fits right in with some quantum theories. Wanna hear more?

Well why not? The British say that silence means Yea Verily!

All matter is made up of little tiny bitty things. We used to think that electrons ran around their @tomic nucleus like a bunch of planets running around a star. Then they decided that it was sort of an electron smear. U couldnt ever tell where an electron was. it was here, it was there, it was nowhere. Some would even add that it was everywhere.

The little tiny witsy bitsy things wibble and wobble meaning that matter itself is a smear. Sometimes the smear is broad. Sometimes it might be so thin that it might seem be be a single point. When a 'substantial' decision with different alternatives is made a smear is created. An example? Furshur!

The fast food chains had a choice to make. Go for leaner foods or just keep going as they had been. We think there was no choice because we sit toward one end of the smearing. Many people say they would rather live happily even if that means that their life is 10 or even 20 years shorter. Me, you, lots of us. Maybe even most of us. The fast food guys could take the other choice because their patrons individually decided that to eat and be happy was better than to starve and live longer. Well, MAYBE live longer. That choice by the fast food guys is toward the other end of this particular smearage.

Here in our alternative i stand in line in McDonalds. I find myself wondering "Why dont they have double fried cheese fries?" Then i forget about it and order regular Fench fries because that's all they've got. But I also live in the alternative where there's DOUBLE FRIED CHEESE FRIES and am in line thinking about how YUMMY they are going to be. My drooling thoughts in that alternative leak over to myself here.

That's the example in the microcosim of the individual. There are catches. I have to be alive here in our alternative AND i need to be alive over in that fat fast food alternative.

There are bigger examples. There are alternatives where there are lots and lots of French and German and Polish Jews because there were several ways that the second World War could have been avoided. There were also several ways that the War happened but that there was no H. Himmler to set about destroying all the Jews. In those alternatives, Jews fought alongside their fellow Germans or Poles. Loyal patriotic Jews who survived the War to raise lots of German and French and Polish Jewish families after the War.

Lincoln had a REALLY BIG decision to make. How should he treat the Southern States? Everybody left the decision in his hands. He decided to fortify Fort Sumter and chose War if the South Carolinians chose War. They did in OUR alternative history.

DOUBLE FRIED CHEESE FRIES? O yes! They have a machine. they fry the fries then they are hung one by one on a sort of clothesline like the city clotheslines out city windows before clothesdryers. the clothesline dunks the fries into a cheese sauce then the fry is pulled out into icy cold air for a few feet. The cheese freezes very solid. The fries coated with cheese come out the other end where a worker double batters them like top notch fried chicken and they are fried again. The machine is an engineering marvel. The cheese is boiling hot but the air in the upper part is way below freezing. A laminar flow keeps the air icy cold yet no crust forms on the cheese. Its all in clear plastic so you can watch it happen. Cool beyond cool.

Enjoy.
