I guess this belongs in politics, I dunno.
I found this to be of some interest: 9-year-old arrested for waving toy gun
[tongue-in-cheek]The residents of Ohio can rest more comfortably now that this vicious terrorist has been apprehended. Kudos to the fine police officer, who was really on top of things, and, at the risk of his own life, subdued and arrested this maniacal zealot and his "accomplice", who was attemting to change her appearance at the time.[/tongue-in-cheek]

Kudos to the police officer that followed procedure when called on a possible fire arm threat to civilians and himself. Can you ever be sure? |

How would the police know the kid's mother was getting her hair done down the street? It's not like the kid would have said anything if he was scared shitless from being at gunpoint... If the kid had attention deficit disorder shouldn't she had kept him under a vee bit closer supervision? |

Bah! "Attention deficit disorder" is the catch-all thing to do with kids nowadays: "Dope them and they'll be good." (This is not to say there are some really serious cases out there.)
Ohio has been getting increasingly fascist for decades. I used to drive around Ohio just to avoid going through the state --- way over to Indiana and down through Indiana then back over into Kentucky, just to avoid going through (Patooie!!) Ohio.
But thing could have been MUCH more serious, Dr. Mabuse. We have a long tradition of armed citizens over here: It's in the Constitution itself. And in the Bill of Rights. The kid was NINE years old! Kids usually LIKE cops. There was a good chance that if a cop pulled a pistol on a 9-year old playing with a plastic gun that the kid would assume that the cop was PLAYING guns-and-stuff with him. "Bang, bang!" says the kid, pointing his gun at the cop who stopped to "play" with him. "BANG!" goes the cop's gun for real, blowing the kid all over the store-front.
Ugly, ugly. But: Ohio? No surprise to me (--although Pennsylvania is probably even worse! They drop BOMBS on their own citizens in Pennsylvania!!). |
