Just in:

The strength of the Earth's magnetic field has decreased 10 percent over the past 150 years, raising the remote possibility that it may collapse and later reverse, flipping the planet's poles for the first time in nearly a million years, scientists said.

At that rate of decline, the field could vanish altogether in 1,500 to 2,000 years, said Jeremy Bloxham of Harvard University.

Hundreds of years could pass before a flip-flopped field returned to where it was 780,000 years ago. But scientists at a meeting of the American Geophysical Union cautioned that scenario is an unlikely one.

well there wasn't MUCH more to be learned 'here' but there WAS this

From Kil's link
quote:

The weakening -- if coupled with a subsequently large influx of radiation in the form of protons streaming from the sun -- can also affect the chemistry of the atmosphere, said Charles Jackman of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.

That can lead to significant but temporary losses of atmospheric ozone, he said.

Just what is needed, writ with HUGE sarcasm, even more reduction of ozone layer. The REAGAN-CLINTON lies followed by frightening science truths. Biggest problem i see is with foodstuff since as everyone knows
    "Ya gotta eat!"
(why does everyone ignore vital importance of food?)
INCREASED ozone is deadly to many plants because of extra radiation. Also to us humans without furry coverings. Many sea guys and birds count on static magnetic field for migratory travel. Even maybe the monarch butterflies. LOTS of food supplies could rapidly unravel if ozone depleats to much or if mag field changes too much.

Bottom line is WE STARVE. BIG problem in my little opinion.

What have you been drinking?
Ozone isn't radioactive.

What is it that you think Reagan/Clinton has lied about?
Perhaps I've misunderstood something, and your whole post is a humorous/sarcastic. Please helpo me out on this.

Sea guys usually depend on GPS these days. Decreased life time of satellites due to increased radiation is nothing but a question of funding. Sending up more heavily shielded satellites more often.

Isn't your average American meal a Big Mac? Migratory birds might perish, yes. But wheat (that gives you bread) will still grow, and will get pollinated by the increasing number of insects (since there are less birds to eat them). Other plant life will not suffer from the disappearance of the magnetic field, so cows will still have plenty to eat, and will live to give you meat for your burger. Chickens does not migrate, so there will be plenty of KFC too.
I don't understand what you are raving about? Sure, parts of the echo-system take a blow, but don't underestimate nature. Life will find a way.

Millions and millions of people are already starving in the world.
You are not starving yet so, I suppose, currently there is no problem.

Ozone layer soaks up radiation. Without layer or with reduced layer more radiation gets through. Bad radiation. UV. Plants die. We burn.

Reagan the slickest communicator conned us into believing that worries about ozone were silly. "Wear sunglasses and hat" he said. "Ha ha" he added. Clinton conned us into believing that the treaty meant to reduce ozone-killing pollutants would work and we would all be saved. He LIED. Clinton is BIG FAT BURGER-EATING LIAR. Ozone treaty was big hoax meant to put off worries for 10-15 years.

By Sea guys i meant fish, porpupuses, whales, sharks, skates, rays. Wasn't thinking about miserable, pitiful, duplishous human sea guys. Those are lying, murdering, uncaring, sonar-using "sea guys" who really aren't sea guys at all. Just throw them overboard and see if they are really and truly "sea guys."

Just read where one of the satilitse meant to measure radiation was burned out by radiation. Above or below depleeted ozone layer don't know i.

Ozone depleation may let enuf radiation thru to cut grain/soybean take in half or more. Cows go hungry. Big macs double in price of maybe even Big Macs all close or start selling hay-burgers.
