This is indeed a moral decision that results in the death of a living being. You simply choose not to care or believe that, while I do. This argument about compassion for the mother is based solely on your interpretation of when life begins, or when a child becomes a child. You just don't see that that child in the womb is your soon to be heir and daughter or son who will give you grandchildren, and take care of you when you're old.

You don't know much about 'partial-birth' abortion procedure do you? The 'partial-birth' abortion is not head first, it is not necessarily performed on what would be considered a viable fetus. The DNC is the form used as birth control by those who seek abortion. This usually occurs within the first three months of pregnancy. The partial-birth abortion is recommended by a doctor for medical reasons.

I would suggest you do more than listen to what others say, and do a bit of research.

Might I pipe in with a few pertinent stats?

When I was researching this very topic for a similar arguement on another board, I discovered that 96% of late term abortions were the normal D&C. Less than 1% of late term abortions are the D&X variety (commonly referred to as "partial birth") which consists of delivering all but the head of the fetus and collapsing the brain cavity. Why? Because these are typically done to profoundly hydrocephalic fetuses. (The kind that have no brain matter and die a few minutes after delivery at the latest.) This was done to decrease the risk to the mother. If this procedure was not done, the mother would have to have a cesearian section (far riskier than a standard vaginal birth) to remove the fetus. Essentially, the partial brith abortion foes are saying to mothers "screw your life, we want another live birth".

The numbers I quoted were from the CDC.

Which is why we see all these doctors suggesting women forget about contraceptive pills, condoms, etc. as forms of birth control: it'd cut into their profits performing abortions. Sarcasm aside, I find the numbers extremely difficult to believe. In fact, all of the words of the particular doctor you cite, Eric Harrah, are suspect:
Within two weeks of his conversion Mr Harrah was giving pro-life speeches. He proved to be very effective at bringing in contributions for pro-life causes. For example, at the Ontario, California Crisis Pregnancy Center, a banquet featuring a speech by Mr Harrah brought in $56,000. The most the CPC had ever raised at a banquet before was $12,000.

But, Mr Harrah says, "I felt exploited and I felt used. I called myself their 'private dancer', you know, like the Tina Turner song: 'dancer for money, do what you want me to do'. Nobody gave a darn how I was. Nobody asked me how I was doing spiritually ... they just wanted me to stand up and talk bad about the abortion industry."

His behaviour quickly became unstable. He apparently returned to drug use, and on at least three occasions accepted money to speak at a pro-life event and then never showed up. He apparently had some wild mood swings, from being sweet and gentle and apparently happy to breaking down in tears to wild rages and shouting.

He now says that "within two to three months after my conversion, I was over it", and that Christian statements he made in numerous speeches, television programs, etc were all a sham. It's difficult to know whether he was faking it all then or if he's re-writing his experience now.

- A "Retired" Abortionist: Update
In fact, the idea that all of the money women pay for abortions could wind up in the pocket of the owner of a clinic is absurd, but that's what Harrah claims in the interview you linked to, Doomar. Medicine is a high-overhead industry, unless the doctors were working without malpractice insurance, in a rent-free building, with zero supplies and no nurses. Harrah seems to have been playing ventriloquist's dummy for the pro-life crowd: saying what they wanted to hear in return for cash. It seems likely that the more horrific he made the "abortion industry" look, the more money would roll in from donations. Whether or not the "abortion industry" is lucrative, so is the "anti-abortion industry," which makes the latter faulting the former for their profits nothing but hypocrisy:
Initially, Mr. Harrah charged speaking fees as low as $250, but as demand for his speeches grew, so did his price tag. CPCs in Youngstown, Ohio, and Ontario, Calif., paid between $750 and $1,000 for 45-minute presentations. When visiting cities, Mr. Harrah spoke at local churches in exchange for "love offerings." Offerings from one 1,500-member church in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., totaled $3,000.

- Star Makers, Heartbreakers
And here's more on his lack of credibility:
As his reputation as The New Pro-Life Convert grew, some pro-lifers began sounding the alarm that he might not be credible. Susan Rogacs, a veteran activist from State College, was particularly critical of what she saw as lies and hype. For example, Mr. Harrah claimed in church talks to have been not just an abortion business operator but at age 22 the sole owner of 26 abortion clinics. He also said he'd been shot at by pro-lifers, but no records existed of shootings at clinics he had operated. Mr. Harrah admitted to WORLD this summer that he embellished stories while on the speaking circuit.
