Since I just spent the last, oh, four hours or so of my life on it, I highly recommend Acts of Gord to anyone and everyone.

Along with being very funny, overall, it can also actually teach a person something about life in the retail world, as well as life in video-game sales and rentals. Admittedly, these lessons may only be 'new' if you, like me, has never done a day of retail sales work, I honestly couldn't say. But the site has opened my eyes a little wider to at least a part of what the guys down at my local game parlor (and probably every retail store, to some extent or other) go through.

I haven't yet checked out the comic. Please avoid posting spoilers.

Dave W.:

Sounds hilarious. However, I do not permit myself to enter bookstores, because I have too many books and little extra space. In addition, with all of my astronomy paraphernalia, binoculars, and telescope(s), things are pretty crowded at my place.

Never fear, ljbrs, since Acts of Gord appears to only be readable online at the moment. Took me between three and four hours to read the whole thing, and another 15 minutes or so to go through both comic "books" (which aren't quite as funny as the text).

Dave: I just downloaded it and will read it later when I have more time.

Thank you for the suggestion. It looks good at first glance. If you liked it, I am certain that I will also.

Well, here's a taste of it, for those who haven't looked:
quote:
[Customer:] "Do you have an easier version of Wheel of Fortune?"

[Gord:] "An easier version? It's hangman with money."

"The puzzles are too hard. It should give a hint."

"I can't really see anything good coming from that."

"Like 'You Don't Know Jack' with the multiple choice answers."

"Multiple choice Wheel of Fortune?"

"Exactly."

"You haven't thought this though at all."

"Can I exchange it for Jeopardy?"

"If you though Wheel of Fortune was hard, you're going in the wrong direction."

Thanks Dave.
I really enjoyed this one. I wonder if that guy really smacked those little shits around like he says. Not that that's what I enjoyed about it, but it made me wonder about possible embellishment of the events he chronicles. It was very humorous though.

I and my wife are pretty sure that the episodes of physical violence in there are "don't I wish" stories, but there's no telling. On the other hand, I am willing to bet that there are plenty of people out there who, after being smacked around, would find going to the cops to be more of a hassle than it was worth, especially when the cops (or, even worse, their parents) found out why they got smacked around.
