Actually, no. It's always a bit surprising at what creation88 will explode about. It appears to have been Chaloobi's comment, and not simply pointing out the signs, that did it this time.

And what a strange thing to blow up about, too. I just realized, his reply began with "Has a Christian ever done anything to you???" yet it's obvious to me that C88 lives hundreds of miles from the churches I mentioned, and also wasn't personally harmed by Chaloobi's opinions. And for some reason, he feels secure in dismissing as inadequate the harms we list which were committed by Christians (sometimes upon Christians).

This is, once again, the hypocrisy of faith. C88 feels that the harm he perceives (personally) in this thread is valid, while the same sort of perceived personal harm, perpetrated by those of faith outside this thread upon us (or others) is minimal, impersonal or invalid.

ok ok...I'm gonna try and help "un-hijack" this thread. Because I saw a very funy church sign that i had to share haha......

MARRIAGE EQUALS
ONE MAN AND WOMEN

I dunno, but i don't think this is exactly the message they were trieing to communicate :)

Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desire, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.-- C.S. Lewis

That, creation88, is a very good addition. "One man and women" is an embarrassing sort of typo, unless it was outside a Mormon temple.

Well, this isn't a church sign.... but I laughed when I saw it. I was in a theatre today (to see Troy) and saw a poster for DodgeBall. The sign reads : GRAB LIFE BY THE BALL

Here's one that my younger daughter told me about:

Might make a nice signature, that.

I know I'm a bit late adding my 2 cents but I'd like to say that I think that irritating middle aged buffoon who stood on my porch for 20 minutes insisting I join his church was trying to "herd" me into church. And this is after I repeatedly stated that I am an atheist, and I was very obviously getting angry at his questioning. There, does that count as someone trying to force me into a church?

cheers!

First of all were going back into history again. Second of all, this does not have anything to do with YOU! If your great-grandmother had some bitterness against "christians" then it would be more understandable.

And if were going to go back in history, as everyone keeps insisting on doing, then let's talk about the hundreds of thousands of Christians slaughtered for there faith. And not just the very few "Christians" who were not even Christians, who have killed people.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not "crying persecution" as Rease has said multiple times. Because these things don't effect me directly either. But there definetly worth noting. Also worth noting are the thousands of charity's started by churches across the world.

If someone came into this thread and did'nt know what a Christian was, they would come out thinking that they were some kind of demonic serial killers. And you all know this is not true.

You know that this does not represent the typical Christian, yet you use it anyway. If were going to talk about the extremists. I could take any of the MANY MANY MANY thousand more murders, and rapes, and thefts, and say look what non-Christian religion brings. (i say "religion" because in reality, thats what it is) And it would be just as valid.

Here's some examples of recent abuses perpetrated on other religions besides Christian.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/world/americas/1627503.stm

http://www.muslimedia.com/ARCHIVES/sea98/burma.htm

From 1995 - 1999, 200,000 muslim villagers were killed by Serbian Orthodox Christians prompting charges of genocide.

From 306 CE - 1945 CE, Jews were singled out by the Catholic and Prodestant churches for forced conversions, expulsions from their homes, and wholesale killing.

From 1998 - 1999, 400,000 muslim villagers were forced from their homes by Serbian Orthodox Christians.

From 1910 - 1970, Aboriginal children in Australia were forcibly removed from their parents and given to white foster families to absorb them into the general population.

And that's just a few.

Are these indicative of Christianity in general? No.

I wonder if these type of signs work any better than just having the assembly times on the signs.

Bringing this topic back life, I just found one a few days ago:

"Jesus: Don't leave Earth without him"

Evangelicals on the moon?

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

IF THE GRASS LOOKS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE,
FERTILIZE YOURS.

I'm not sure what that has to do with the church, but there you have it.

How do plants exist without bugs in the soil, and bugs in the soil without plants producing oxygen?

There are no atheists in foxholes

Underlying the evolutionary theory is not just the classic "stuff" of science — conclusions arrived at through prolonged observation and experimentation. Evolution is first an atheistic, materialistic world view. In other words, the primary reason for its acceptance has little to do with the evidence for or against it. Evolution is accepted because men are atheists by faith and thus interpret the evidence to cor-respond to their naturalistic philosophy.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. II Timothy 4:3,4

You can not see the 'wind', but you can see its effect!!!!

Evolution was caused by genetic mistakes at each stage?

Radical Evolution has 500 million years to find fossils of fictional drawings of (hard core)missing links, yet they find none.

We have not seen such moral darkness since the dark ages, coencides with
teaching evolution in schools. (Moral darkness)

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places, EPH 6:12.

"Thus, many scientists embracing naturalism find themselves in the seeming dilemma recently articulated by biochemist Franklin Harold: "We should reject, as a matter of principle, the substitution of intelligent design for the dialogue of chance and necessity [i.e., Darwinian evolution]; but we must concede that there are presently no detailed Darwinian accounts of the evolution of any biochemical system, only a variety of wishful speculations."
