As I recall we went through this in the 80's when our beloved elected officials raided the social security fund so that it would appear that deficit spending wasn't as bad as it actually was. Well here we go again:
Soc. Security Accouting Change Made
I am having a bad Voodoo Economics flashback. Gee, if there isn't a real surplus invent one! On the bright side this should ensure a one term presidency...

Is the president insane or stupid?
Well, if I can only pick one, I'll go with stupid. But why limit it to an "either...or"?

Dammit! I know, I know....I thought about it after my initial posting that I should have added "...or Both." but the window of opportunity drifted on by leaving all of you the first crack at it.

sadly the answer is probably neither, he is simply a puppet of the folks that arranged his elevation to the presidency. he does have integrity though, when he is bought, he stays bought.

What politician isn't bought to some degree? At least he is pathetically obvious. Clinton did the same thing, of course, but he was sharp and could convince the electorate that he was a good guy looking out for them. Republicans have always hated him for that and i think that's al they really hated him for. His skill.

Well, first off, I think "hate" is too strong a word.
But his 'skill' is not what I objected to. What I disliked about Mr Clinton is his lack of morals and his disregard for telling the truth.

Fair enough, but real honesty requires that Dubya be held to the same standard. So far I notice that his supporters seem to be living in denial and fail to hold him to that standard. You have to call a spade a spade and Dubya is a spade

Up. Insane? That's a bit strong. But what I would like to know is: I've heard he went to Harvard. That can't be correct information! I once went to a doctor who said he studied at Harvard too and he wasn't the brightest candle in the office. So what's with the reputation of that school? Is that what they mean by the dumbing down of America? I've tried several times to watch Bush when he talks and give him the benefit of doubt but each time he gets stupider and stupider. Scary isn't it?

Intresting pool result from in europe:
quote:
from International Herald Tribune. 65% of germans, 59% of French, 49% of British and 46% of italiens dissagrea with Bush international politic.
That is pointless, I cannot figure out why Bush would work for europe.
quote:
45% of the Americains support him. But around 75% of Germans, Italiens and French consider Bush as the president the most ignorant in european issues.
It is not the complete pool just a sum up taken in a news paper (translation is from me so there is probably some mistakes).
Another thing about what was said on Clinton, He had an affaire with someone and so what. As long as he was doing his job. In europe we had some problems to understand why it was such a big story. That's right we are more concerned about politicians stelling money .

I still wonder where this morality stuff comes from in regard to Bush. I just don't think a little affair that's none of our business is a billionth as immoral as raping an entire nation.

That's all that needs to be said on the matter.

If you were Rupert Murdoch (doesn't he own Fox?), you would be kissing Bush's ass. I don't think that Bush is either stupid or insane. He has mediocre intellegence and as for insanity, with his energy and environmental policies and the big tax cut, his freinds are going to do really well.

Dang. When I first saw the title of this topic, I thought it was going to be a poll!
Please take the following with a grain of salt:
I have a theory that W's main problem is his vice-president. Hear me out. Remember when Bush Sr. was president? You know, the one who kind of looks like W, but with the vacant stare. Senior had Danny Boy as a vice president. We can all remember some of the hilarious and outrageous faux pas Danny made, but can any of us remember what Senior was doing at the time? We can recall Quayle buying that doll in Mexico, officiating at a spelling bee, or addressing a conference of the United Negro College Fund. While this was going on, just what exactly were Senior's economic policies? Social programs? Foreign policy? Cheney needs to find something besides heart problems. Heck, I'm on heart medication, so I'm not impressed. A pair of ladies crotchless underwear found on Cheney's office floor would take a lot of heat away from the Shrubster. Lisa

Do you have to ask?

Problem with Clinton's term was that he was the one doing the womanizing and Gore was just stiff as a board.
