The only atheists who will be allowed to post are those who beg tkster for the privilege. That's his reponse to Ricky's plea for a modicum of respect.

Well, that explains why I am punted, though I am not guilty of a single reason that tkster lists. I have been very careful with my replies... In fact, look here:

http://skeptictimes.golivewire.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=398

tkster agreed with me and then punted me...

Of course in that post, Kil, he seemed to completely miss the point of your message, which was (if I'm not mistaken), "you can't reasonably, as admin, not speak for your moderators." It's little wonder that bannings are as common as cockroaches over there, if the moderators are all doing their own things, not having to answer to tkster or anyone else but God.

On another note, gotta wonder if Hannah and Courtney survived the atheist purge. Probably, but you never know.

I must say, posting there is a bit like posting to the twilight zone. It isn't so much that they are christian/creationists that makes it weird. It's that even their one sided rules are not applied evenly which makes it is impossible to get a handle on what is OK and what is not OK to say.

Imagine a skeptic site that can't call into question the qualifications of a source! If they are skeptics than I am a pop corn popper...

Anyhow, all I really did there was to point out mistakes of procedure. The sort of thing that would concern a skeptic. Sigh...

Kil, dear, you forget the first rule of the average creationist weirdo: they are never wrong.

It really seems to me that the leadership over there has been taking their cues straight from the Bible. Moderation is as unpredictable as their God.

I doubt I'll ever be asking tkster for posting privileges over there (not that he'd give 'em to me anyway), simply because I'm not going to blow a whole bunch of time writing something which must be smiled upon by a whole trinity of wannabe forum-deities in order for it to remain unmolested.

Plus, if he'll let Kil in... [rolls eyes]

Not sure if anyone is still looking at the SkepticTimes board, but this one deserves a look:

http://skeptictimes.golivewire.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=510

Just read the last post there, I had to read it 5 times before I would believe he actually said it.

Edit: 2nd to last now.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

If you're talking about this part:
Some of us believe in a Higher Power, and thus stay honest. That is why "we" go second, and the evolutionists go first.
I'd have to agree that it's incredibly assinine, but it's also very common. The whole "atheists just don't want to have to answer for their sins" bit is old, tired, and easily rebutted with counter-examples on both sides (famous atheists who are/were morally upstanding people, and famous fundamentalists who're lying scumbags).

To people who profess such ideas, I usually say, "so if you were to learn today that God doesn't exist, you'd turn into an asswipe on purpose?" I don't think that even one of them has understood the premise of their own original statements, since they routinely answer with an indignant "of course not!"

However, I must say that my sample size has been fairly small, so generalizations are impossible.

Yes, that line first shocked me, although I have seen it before too, just not at this forum. But the last line really got me:

quote:
It's like baseball people ... the Home Team = The Creationists. You are at our forum, you play in our field.

Basically, he has just admitted to having unfair debates in his forum, and I don't think he realizes it.

Open the link. Peptide has already posted. The opposition, jimi, I think it is, will post in a week.

Damn all microscopic font. My eyeballs hurt. Glad I am that I got to read it all over here. I'll probably have to use a glass to read jimi's evidences.

Well, tkster has indeed made an ass of himself. In another topic I criticised kevkev for being dishonest by going undercover as an atheist at several discussion boards. Though he has stated that he do believe in God and is a YEC. In response, tkster replied that kevkev is a saved-by-grace kin of guy, and would thus not be held accountable. Buy that comment he has already acknowledged that Christians can be deceiving and dishonest.
I can't find the post since I don't have access to the search-engine on that web-site.

Hey Doc, don't you know by now that the meaning of Christianity is all in how you translate it? As I reacall from reading the Bible, God hisdamnself laid down a whopper or two, and admitted it, as well as all the genocide, etc. That opens the door to all sorts of blessed, antisocial behavior. Yay, God!
