Interesting article, Wulfstan. I wasn't sure that the missionaries were in country in any sort of numbers. I do not forsee them enjoying much success.

I read a piece the other day that stated that Iraqi Christians were leaving the country as quickly as they were able to get out.

Thanks.

Or it perpetuates myths and bad medicine.

No, not in the context that I have used it -- I am not, after all, a medical lecturer. It is an archaic term that almost everyone is familiar with; indeed, I was a tad suprised when Ricky asked about it. As used, it promotes neither myth nor any kind of medicine, nor anything else beyond working as an adjective in building an interesting (I hope) sentence.

As a wildlife rehabilitator (state licensed), I have had some first-hand experience with rabies. Due to rabies, it is now illegal for me to work with a fox, raccoon, skunk, or bat. If I get one in that can't be given a free meal or two, then released right away, I'm to euthanize it. If I suspect rabies, I'm to turn the remains over to the state for examination. Over the years, I've turned in several, mainly adult raccoons and one grey fox, all save one raccoon were positive. I also ratted out the people who called me to come get the animal, or delivered it to me. Happily, none, including myself, had been bitten. Incidently, it doesn't necessarly take a bite to pass on the blessing. A little saliva in a scratch will do the job, nicely.

Due to orthopedic problems as well as space limitations, I've cut way back on rehab and instruction. These days, I do songbirds and opossums, but mostly reptiles (much easier to get along with). And other than problem snakes, I rarely go to pick up the animal. There are other, younger R&R guys around for that.

Now, I must ask; what are your rules as to using, and occasionally butchering, out-dated terms in sentence structure? I myself, have none beyond context.
